Position Overview: The Justice Program is seeking Research Analyst to join a cutting-edge interdisciplinary team working to create a fair and equitable criminal justice system that champions evidence-based reforms to protect both individual rights and public safety. The Research Analyst will conduct research and engage in policy advocacy for Justice Program initiatives, working with attorneys, associates, and other researchers. Some projects in the near term include: a mixed methods study examining a state prison system and current reforms being implemented there; a study to evaluate the impact of clean slate laws in New York and other jurisdictions around the country; and a quantitative study examining the relationship between harsh prison conditions and recidivism. Reporting to the Senior Research Fellow, the Research Analyst will conduct and help shape quantitative and qualitative research for Justice Program projects; engage in the writing and editing of reports that present data findings; engage with external organizations to advance research efforts; and participate in the release of reports by organizing events and reporting back to stakeholders. Responsibilities: Conduct quantitative research and data analysis, applying research best practices to the collection, cleaning, and analysis of empirical data using statistical programs (such as R, Stata, or GIS). Operating out of Kings County Criminal Court, Brooklyn Justice Initiatives is a team of social service providers, court-based resource coordinators, and others who seek to improve the quality of justice. By providing meaningful pre-trial supervised release and post-conviction sentencing options, Brooklyn Justice Initiatives seeks to use an arrest as a window of opportunity to change the direction of a participant’s life and avoid the harmful effects of incarceration. Brooklyn Supervised Release (BKSR) is seeking to welcome a new Night Court Liaison to the team who will report to a Supervising Court Liaison. As a Night Court Liaison, you will coordinate with court stakeholders to ensure the successful release of program participants to the Brooklyn SRP. The Court Liaison will review all available court-related information about each participant released under supervision to complete the necessary paperwork. With grant funds from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), DOHMH is undertaking a new initiative that will meet critical infrastructure needs and make possible strategic investments that will have lasting effects on public health. Investments and improvements through this initiative will help modernize DOHMH’s foundational capabilities and data infrastructure, enabling it to partner in complex health and health care environments and, in turn, support better public health outcomes, including COVID-19. This initiative supports larger efforts to rebalance investments in public health and more equitably serve communities and populations. The selected candidate will be an employee of Public Health Solutions, a nonprofit organization which is the fiscal and administrative manager of the grant but will work be supervised by DOHMH. This is a grant-funded position ending in November 2027. The Office of External Affairs manages many of the agency’s most critical interactions with the public, from raising awareness and promoting healthy behaviors to advancing policies and responding to health emergencies. The Bureau of Communications, housed within the Office of External Affairs, develops culturally responsive public health marketing campaigns; generates and crafts materials to inform New Yorkers of health information and program services, ensuring accessibility for all; provides access to translation services for collateral materials and clinics; maintains the agency’s website; and publishes content on the agency’s social media platforms. Within Creative Communications, the Design team oversees the art direction, design, layout, and creation of print and digital media to inform New Yorkers of key health topics and emergency situations. Job Description: DOHMH has an opening for a Videographer. Reporting to the Director of Design, the Videographer will support the creation of compelling, accessible, and culturally responsive video content for social and digital platforms. The role is responsible for capturing, producing, and editing video content that translates complex public health information into clear, engaging, and actionable stories for diverse NYC audiences. Specifically, the Videographer/Photographer will: • Capture high-quality video and audio across a variety of environments, including community settings, events, clinics, and offices., • Film interviews, testimonials, and b-roll that support public health messaging and campaigns in collaboration with other teams and subject matter experts., • Participate in pre-production planning, including developing shot lists and coordinating logistics., • Work with Design Director and social media team to optimize content across platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, LinkedIn, and YouTube., • Package and optimize content by adding captions, motion graphics, and audio enhancements to ensure accessibility and usability., • Manage and organize video files, media assets, and backups in collaboration with the design team., • Ensure all content aligns with accessibility standards and reflects culturally responsive, non-stigmatizing representation., • Support rapid-response content production as needed for timely public health communications., • Working closely with Executive Communications, serve as primary assignee for priority Health Commissioner photography and videography.
