Job Description Position: Associate Technical Designer – Apparel & Related Accessories Reports To: Director of Technical Design FLSA Status: Exempt SUMMARY: The Associate Technical Designer will support and contribute to the Technical Design team by ensuring apparel products meet brand standards for fit, construction, grading, and design execution from development through production. This role takes increased ownership in fit sessions, sample evaluation, vendor communication, and technical documentation. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, proactively identifies issues and solutions, and collaborates effectively with cross-functional partners to maintain product integrity throughout the development cycle. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: § Partner closely with Product Development and Technical Design to create, update, and maintain tech packs, including measurement specs, construction details, and graded rules § Lead initial sample measurements and evaluate garments for accuracy, construction quality, and adherence to brand fit standards § Participate actively in fit sessions—providing fit input, capturing detailed notes, and drafting clear fit comments to vendors § Assist in managing and maintaining fit standards, including block measurements, construction guidelines, and grading consistency across styles § Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with internal teams and external vendors regarding fit comments, technical corrections, timelines, and sample status § Collaborate with Product Development, Merchandising, and Design to ensure technical feasibility and support special projects or product initiatives Specific Responsibilities: § Prepare, measure, and review fit samples after fittings, assessing them against previous comments, specs, and brand expectations. § Track and manage all sample requests, incoming samples, approvals, and outstanding needs throughout the development cycle. § Maintain and organize the sample library, pattern archive, and technical documentation for assigned categories. § Coordinate with cross-functional partners to schedule and prepare fit sessions, including assisting with fit model booking and tracking attendance. § Assist in identifying potential pattern, construction, or grading issues and propose initial solutions for review by senior technical design team members § Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Technical Design department Experience/Education: • Fashion Design or related degree and/or experience, • 2-5 Years of experience working in a design/development environment or related role, • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, • Strong skills in Adobe Illustrator and experience with other Adobe Creative Cloud applications a plus § Solid understanding of fit, garment construction, sample measuring, and patterns § Experience working in or exposure to a PLM system; familiarity with 2D or 3D pattern software preferred § Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently while managing multiple styles and deadlines § Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical information to vendors and cross-functional partners Physical Demands: • Regularly required to sit, talk, use repetitive motion, type, and hear, • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms., • Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach overhead, • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance; for color a minimum of average rating on the Munsell Farnsworth 100 Hue Color Discrimination Test.
