Our organization is seeking a dedicated and experienced Area Quality and Safety Officer for our client in Modesto, CA. The successful candidate will provide strategic oversight and guidance for small- and medium-sized service areas (facilities with less than 300 licensed beds) by leading the development and implementation of quality programs and initiatives. This role requires expertise in clinical quality management and a proactive approach to monitoring performance metrics and implementing improvement activities. We are seeking an accomplished Area Quality and Safety Officer for our client to provide strategic leadership and oversight for small- to medium-sized service areas (typically under 300 licensed beds). This influential role leads the development and implementation of quality and patient safety programs, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, and drives continuous improvement in clinical performance across diverse service lines. The ideal candidate is a dynamic healthcare leader who thrives in a collaborative environment, brings strong expertise in clinical quality management, and has a proven track record of enhancing outcomes through evidence-based practices. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership: Provide expert guidance and oversight for quality and patient safety programs across multiple service areas. Champion evidence-based practices and drive clinical excellence in collaboration with executive leadership and medical staff. Performance Management: Monitor key performance indicators and implement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Lead performance improvement efforts and ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and licensing requirements. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with physicians, nurses, and administrative leaders to strengthen peer review and practitioner performance programs, ensuring consistent application of quality standards and safety protocols. Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation: Direct regulatory audits, accreditation efforts, and ongoing survey readiness. Serve as the primary liaison for onsite evaluations and documentation requests from regulatory bodies. Risk & Patient Safety Oversight: Lead risk management initiatives through data analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective action planning. Oversee patient safety programs, respond to significant events, and guide prevention strategies. Infection Prevention & Control: Oversee infection prevention programs to improve patient and employee safety. Serve as a subject matter expert during outbreak management, containment efforts, and construction or renovation planning. Quality Improvement & Data Management: Utilize data analytics and quality metrics to identify trends, guide decisions, and shape long-term organizational strategies. Ensure that quality improvement monitoring and reporting systems drive measurable results. Thought Leadership: Act as a trusted consultant for internal and external stakeholders on clinical quality, regulatory standards, and policy strategy. Lead the development of innovative quality initiatives that align with the organization’s goals and future compliance needs. Program Development: Design and oversee new clinical quality programs that enhance outcomes, safety, and patient experience. Partner with technology and leadership teams to ensure program sustainability and continuous learning. Requirements Minimum of 10 years in clinical and management roles within a health plan, multi-faceted healthcare system, or multi-provider setting. At least 9 years in a leadership role (with or without direct reports). 8 years in clinical, healthcare administration, or directly related fields. 7 years in healthcare or related field experience with a Master’s degree. 6 years working with databases and spreadsheets. 4 years managing operational or project budgets. 4 years delivering training programs. Education: Master’s degree in Business, Health Care, Public Administration, or a directly related field. Certification: Professional Healthcare Quality Certificate (must be obtained within 24 months of hire).
