The Senior Controller is a strategic and hands-on financial leader responsible for building scalable accounting processes, strengthening internal controls, and driving operational financial performance within a growing manufacturing organization. This role will focus heavily on establishing strong financial discipline in the first 12 months, including process standardization, compliance rigor, KPI visibility, and cross-functional partnership with Operations, Supply Chain, and Sales. . Key attributes we admire: • Confidence and determination, • Ability to build rapport across diverse personality types, • Active listening skills to truly understand and address customer needs Financial Leadership & Strategy • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team., • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accuracy and timeliness., • Develop financial reporting that translates operational performance into actionable insights., • Support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting initiatives, • Establish performance metrics within the finance function.Strengthen Financial Controls & Governance, • Evaluate and upgrade internal control framework., • Document and standardize accounting policies and procedures., • Ensure GAAP compliance and audit readiness., • Improve segregation of duties and approval workflows., • Lead external audit and tax coordination.Inventory & Cost Accounting Rigor, • Strengthen standard costing and variance analysis., • Improve inventory accuracy and cycle count processes., • Align physical inventory procedures with financial reporting., • Validate BOM accuracy and labor/overhead allocations., • Monitor excess and obsolete inventory reserves.Cash Flow & Working Capital Optimization, • Improve AR and AP processes., • Implement structured cash forecasting., • Monitor working capital drivers., • Establish clear capital expenditure approval process.Systems & Process Improvement, • Optimize ERP utilization (manufacturing modules, cost accounting, inventory controls)., • Drive automation in reporting and reconciliations., • Implement dashboard tools for real-time KPI visibility for all departments., • Improve integration between Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain., • Implement standardized financial reporting packages for leadershipRisk Management and Business Insurance, • Oversee all corporate insurance programs including general liability, property, product liability, auto, umbrella, and any other applicable coverages., • Lead annual policy renewals, coverage evaluations, and cost negotiations to ensure competitive rates and appropriate risk protection., • Ensure compliance with contractual insurance requirements from customers and vendors., • Gross Margin %, • EBITDA, • Net Income, • Operating Cash Flow, • Working Capital, • Inventory Turns/Accuracy, • Cash Conversion CycleQualifications, • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field., • 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience at a Manufacturing business, • Industry-Specific Knowledge: Expertise in cost accounting, inventory management, and plant performance analysis is crucial., • Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, ERP systems, and financial reporting tools, • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial modeling, and budgeting processes., • Proven experience managing audits, financial reporting, and internal controls., • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Salary: The salary range for this position, based in Valley Cottage, NY, is $175,000 $200,000 per year, plus incentives.
