(BCI) is a leading underground construction company in the Central Valley. The Human Resource Generalist is a versatile professional responsible for managing multiple aspects of human resources, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll, compliance, risk management, and casualty claim administration. This role ensures smooth HR processes, fosters a positive workplace culture, and supports all company departments. Recruitment & Onboarding • Assist and manage full-cycle recruitment for field and office roles, including postings, resume screening, interviewing, and offer negotiations., • Conduct onboarding, new-hire orientation, including paperwork, and training coordination., • Follow up with new hires at 30 and 60 days for benefits enrollment and at 5 months for 401(k) enrollment., • Provide assistance with employee offboarding in accordance with company procedures., • Plan, organize, and attend job fairs to support recruitment efforts HR Operations & Systems Management • Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS (BambooHR) and construction timekeeping systems (ExakTime)., • Perform daily entry of sick/vacation time, call-outs, mileage, and other timecard-related data., • Back up for timecards, onboarding, mileage, and travel reimbursement processes. Employee Relations, Engagement & Development • Address HR-related matters and collaborate with field supervisors across job sites to ensure effective resolution., • Respond to employee calls, emails and text messages within 24 hours, addressing inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner., • Coordinate employee evaluations and communicate policy updates, • Prepare and distribute internal communications pertaining to HR Policies., • Assist in developing and delivering basic HR training programs for employees and supervisors., • Plan and coordinate company events and employee recognition initiatives. HR Administration, Compliance, & Risk Management • Maintain accurate, confidential employee records in HR databases, • Assist with the implementation and ongoing administration of HR policies and procedures, • Support compliance with applicable labor laws, safety regulations, and equal employment opportunity requirements., • Partner with management to support and implement risk management initiatives. Company Assets & Vendor Programs • Administer and manage company accounts including:, • Verizon: Cell phones, iPads, laptops, Apple Business Manager, • Valero: Fuel cards (issue, activate, terminate access, order replacements), • Oversee driver-related compliance, including:, • Clearinghouse checks, • Random drug/alcohol testing, • Employer Pull Notice Program, • Updating Acceptable Driver List, • Coordinate hotel accommodations for employees Payroll & Benefits • Support payroll processing by collecting, reviewing, and validating employee time, mileage, travel time, and attendance records., • Administer and provide employee guidance on company benefit programs., • Coordinate leave administration, including FMLA, workers compensation and disability-related claims. Other Responsibilities • Backup and support for HR and payroll functions as needed., • Ensure all HR documentation (forms, evaluations, change forms, etc.) is signed, scanned, and uploaded., • Support all departments with HR inquiries and compliance needs., • Contribute to process improvements and participate in cross-functional HR initiatives., • Perform other duties as assigned to support the companys HR goals. Languages Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus Experience, Competencies & Skills: • Bachelors degree in human resources, Business Administration, or experience in lieu of degree., • Minimum 2-4 years of HR experience with a strong focus on business partnering, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or a related industry., • Proven ability to influence and build strong relationships at all organizational levels., • Solid knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and employee relations., • Experience in talent management, workforce planning, organizational design, and change management., • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills., • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment., • Strong analytical skills and experience using HRIS and reporting tools., • High degree of integrity, discretion, and professionalism. Physical Demands (if applicable): Ability to travel to locations with occasional visits to job sites. Comfortable working in a dynamic construction environment that may require adherence to safety protocols. Pay Transparency Notice: In accordance with California law, the pay scale for this position is $27.00 -$30.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
