The Radiology Specialist Assistant provides patient care services in accordance with approved delineation of privileges under the supervision of a physician. This role delivers age-appropriate care across the lifespan and supports the continuum of care through clinical expertise, patient assessment, and collaboration with the healthcare team. • Provide medical services to patients within scope of practice and assigned privileges., • Perform patient assessments using age-specific growth and development principles., • Deliver safe, high-quality, and compassionate care., • Assist supervising physician with radiologic procedures and patient management., • Maintain patient flow and organize clinical workload effectively., • Provide guidance and direction to clinical staff involved in patient care., • Respond appropriately to emergency situations., • Ensure compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws, hospital policies, and regulatory standards., • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information (PHI)., • Perform fluoroscopic procedures, including barium studies, joint injections, paracentesis, thoracentesis, bone marrow biopsies, and various biopsies with imaging guidance., • Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and technologists to prepare procedure rooms, manage equipment, and maintain inventory of supplies., • Document procedures accurately and educate patients on procedures including obtaining informed consent and providing pre- and post-procedure instructions., • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, radiation protection standards, and infection control guidelines., • Graduate of an approved course of study acceptable to the New York State Education Department., • Bachelor's degree required in Radiologic Technology or a related field; certification as a Radiologist Assistant (RA) or Physician Assistant (PA) with radiology focus preferred., • Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Radiography; additional certifications in CT, Ultrasound, or Interventional Radiology are highly desirable., • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred.
