Job Summary Responsible for performing all the duties required of an optician, in addition to managerial duties. This position is responsible for managing, teaching, and coaching the optical team members, interacting with Members, confirming appointments, and department upkeep. The Optical Manager serves as the liaison between our members and the lab to ensure that orders are processed timely. The pay range advertised for this position does not include additional compensation paid out through our Manager Bonus and spiff programs. Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities • Provides a high level of Member service, including answering all incoming calls, scheduling patients for eye exams, being open and honest in communication and maintaining a friendly, pleasant demeanor with Members at all times., • Provides support to Members in making eyeglass adjustments, taking measurements, reading prescriptions on the lensometer, timely notification of product readiness, proper handling of all money related transaction, and completing paperwork necessary to place and process orders., • Manages Optical department team members and ensures all team members diligently engage in person and over the phone with Members., • This position will have access to patient information therefore a high degree of discretion and adhering to all privacy and confidential/propriety company policies and procedures is required (i. e. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, known as HIPAA)., • Manages all sales opening and closing procedures at the end of the shift. Must ensure that accurate funds are collected, and payments are made at the point of service., • Strives to deliver sales and metric goals by educating patients on the benefits of available products, and by recommending those that will improve their visual needs., • Spends downtime engaging with members in front of Optical., • Communicates and follows up with Club Manager and Regional Optical Manager regarding department performance, maintenance situations, team member’s performance, and doctor relations., • Ensure workstation/Optical department is always maintained and clean., • Supervises all team members in the Optical department and is responsible for training, separations, recommendation for promotions, and coaching., • Maintains all club policies and procedures., • Performs other duties as assigned., • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of this job. Qualifications • Must be licensed to work as an optician within the State and keep license up to date and active., • Knowledge of optical products and business practices preferred., • High school diploma, college degree, and/or big box wholesale, retail, optical, and/or management experience is preferred., • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including managing/supervising cross-functional teams, training team members, and driving and communicating results., • Strong interpersonal skills, customer service skills, organizational skills and an attention to detail required., • Open shift availability required., • At least 18 years of age. Environmental Job Conditions • Most of the time is spent moving about frequently on hard surfaces. There may be a need to occasionally position oneself to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, handling, pulling, reaching, and/or stooping., • Frequently requires lifting objects up to 20 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 20 pounds with assistance., • Located in a comfortable indoor area with frequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents., • Requires the use of Optical hand tools to adjust and repair Members’ eyeglasses, which includes the insertion and removal of nose pads and small screws. In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is $36.00-39.00.

This role combines the high-velocity execution of pharma field sales with the strategic relationship building of enterprise tech sales. You are not just running a route; you are building an ecosystem. We are looking for someone who can grind in the field—visiting clinics and solving workflow bottlenecks—but who is equally comfortable "meeting them where they are." Whether that means working the floor at a national conference, hosting a dinner for Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), or navigating a complex health system partnership, you are the face of Tono’s growth. The role responsibilities are 50% field execution, 30% strategic partnerships, 20% systems building. 1. Field execution • High-Velocity Outreach: Maintain a consistent presence in high-priority Primary Care, Urgent Care, and Oncology clinics across the Tri-State area., • Consultative Activation: You aren't just dropping off brochures. You are consulting with practice managers to optimize their referral workflows, onboarding them to Tono Connect, and embedding Tono as their default dermatology partner., • Drive Utilization: Monitor referral patterns and re-engage clinics to ensure ongoing adoption and provider satisfaction. 2. Ecosystem building • Meet Them Where They Are: Execute a multi-channel strategy. Identify and attend the conferences, society meetings, mixers, and dinners where clinical decision-makers congregate., • Conference Strategy: Represent Tono at regional and national events (e.g., ASCO, local Medical Society meetings). You will work the floor, generate leads, and build Tono’s brand presence., • Enterprise Navigation: Move beyond the front desk. Build relationships with Medical Directors, referral managers, and Clinical Leads to drive system-wide adoption rather than just single-clinic usage. 3. Architect the commercial playbook • Build the Playbook: Document what works. You will create the "Tono Sales Standard", defining our pitch, our objection handling, and our segmentation strategy., • Data & Infrastructure: Implement and manage our CRM (Salesforce/HubSpot) to track both high-volume field visits and long-cycle enterprise relationships., • Future Leadership: Assist in designing the organizational structure, recruiting, and mentoring the next cohort of territory representatives as we scale. Financial Planning, Monitoring, & Budgeting · Develops and executes operating and capital budgets, business plans, financial forecasts, and long-range strategies in alignment with organizational goals. · Monitors and manages departments within budgetary restrictions; monitors revenues and expenses and directs corrective action procedures as necessary to help assure that budget goals are attained. · Oversees the labor budget and staffing plans; ensure effective and efficient staffing and scheduling for all facilities and functions while balancing financial management with member service. · Partners with the CFO to support monthly and quarterly financial reporting, forecasts, and projections. · Oversees the F&B and Clubhouse supplies and inventories, including purchasing and inventory controls. · Works with Club Purchaser to research new vendors and products, developing an analysis of cost and benefits; promotes positive vendor relationships. · Assist Wine & Beverage manager with the oversight, procedures, and controls of the Club’s wine inventory. Leadership & Staff Development · Hires, trains, and directs the clubhouse management staff, which includes the Clubhouse Manager, Director of Events, and Maintenance Manager, as well as Housemen, Housekeeping, and Laundry staffs. · Fosters a positive and professional cross-department team culture focused on accountability, engagement, and performance. · Conducts regular departmental staff meetings to align goals, share updates, and build team cohesion; participates in interdepartmental meetings; leads cross-departmental collaboration and solutions. · Be a team player willing to be "hands-on" when necessary but understand when to step back and lead the team; promote teamwork, mutual respect, and open communication. · Have a passion and aptitude for teaching and training; develop and enhance training programs for personnel, ensuring appropriate continuous professional development and training. · Work with Human Resources on long-term staffing plans, including the use of J1 and H2B visa employees. · Participate in club wide orientation program; ensure an effective departmental orientation and onboarding program. Safety, Compliance & Standards · Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and liquor laws · Monitors safety practices and conditions; enforce policies to maintain a safe environment. · Assists with emergency plans and procedures, acts in crisis resolving issues calmly, and efficiency. · Work closely with Human Resources to ensure compliance with all employee policies and procedures. · Assists Human Resources with the management of Club’s on-premises staff accommodations. · Ensures members and guests abide by club policies; assist in violation notification procedures. · Uphold confidentiality, and integrity in all matters relating to club operations, members, guests and personnel.
