Job Description About the Role: The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace within our manufacturing and warehouse operations. The EHS Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining programs and procedures that support regulatory compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, with a strong focus on OSHA reporting and workplace safety standards. Responsibilities: • Deliver initial and refresher training to staff at both facilities including but not limited to lock out tag out, Haz-Com, chemical safety, slip/trip/fall prevention, PPE usage, hearing conservation, emergency evacuation, and environmental compliance., • Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis for workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses., • Respond to EHS emergencies and provide guidance on corrective actions and regulatory notifications as needed., • Maintain and update all required EHS documentation, including OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and other regulatory records., • Track and analyze EHS metrics, prepare reports for management, and recommend continuous improvement initiatives., • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with environmental regulations., • Ensure facility is always in audit ready condition., • Assist with execution of fire drills / emergency evacuations., • Coordination of employees at safety program implementations such as hearing exam days, safety shoe distribution truck, contracted training events etc., • Training employees on machine authorized LOTO procedures in real time., • New hire orientation safety trainings., • Serve as primary authority for hot work permit issuance., • Collaborate with management and staff to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility through the facility., • Oversee safety related contractors for the site such as PPE supplier, first aid supplier, waste disposal contractors., • Participate in promoting and supporting behavior-based safety programs., • General inspections at various intervals including slip/trip/fall hazards, PPE compliance, LOTO and machine guarding compliance, waste disposal areas., • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of manufacturing and warehouse areas to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions., • Liaise with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries., • Monthly fire extinguisher inspections, • Monthly crane/hoist inspections Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred., • 2+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment., • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and reporting requirements; experience with OSHA 300 logs and incident reporting is required., • Strong understanding of environmental regulations (EPA, RCRA, etc.) and hazardous material management., • Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills., • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail., • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment., • Professional certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour, CSP, CHMM) are a plus. Skills: The EHS Specialist utilizes their strong regulatory knowledge daily to ensure all workplace practices meet or exceed compliance standards, reducing legal and operational risks. Analytical skills are essential for conducting thorough risk assessments and incident investigations, enabling the identification of root causes and the development of effective corrective actions. Communication skills are critical for delivering engaging training sessions and fostering a safety-conscious culture among employees at all levels. Organizational skills support the management of multiple projects, audits, and reporting requirements simultaneously, ensuring timely and accurate documentation. Additionally, proficiency with EHS software tools enhances data tracking and reporting capabilities, facilitating informed decision-making and continuous program improvement.
