Job DescriptionAbout Us: The French American Academy is a premier private bilingual educational institution committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment. The school currently offers Nursery to Grade 9. Starting in September 2026, our academy will add a grade level each subsequent year until Grade 12. We are a Candidate School for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP) and plan to offer the IB Diploma Program in Grades 11 and 12. We aim to cultivate globally-minded students who are critical thinkers, compassionate individuals, and lifelong learners, with a focus on project-based, experiential, interdisciplinary, and globally minded education that builds social-emotional skills and student agency. Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and motivated College and Careers Counselor to join our high school team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of college admissions processes, particularly in the United States, and will be adept at guiding students through career exploration and college application strategies. A strong understanding of the New Jersey Standards and International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum requirements is essential to ensure student subject selection ensures Diploma completion and pathway into their desired colleges, overseas universities or workplaces. Successful candidates will have established relationships with U.S. colleges and grow connections with international institutions relevant to our students. They will have a commitment to bilingual, international, and interdisciplinary education, and a collaborative approach to helping students realize their short and long-term academic and career goals. The College and Careers Counsellor will take a holistic view of students development and will build trusting relationships with students through a range of initiatives. Key Responsibilities: ● Guide students in college and career planning, including the college application process, career exploration, and goal-setting for post-secondary pathways. ● Provide individualized and group counseling and career sessions that target necessary skills. For example: resume writing, subject selection, interviewing, building GPA through community service and extracurricular activities, social skill development. ● Maintain up-to-date knowledge of college admissions processes, financial aid resources, and scholarship opportunities. ● Develop and sustain strong relationships with U.S. and relevant overseas colleges and universities, with a particular focus on institutions that accept the International Baccalaureate and that are local to the New Jersey Area. ● Collaborate with teachers, parents, and students to ensure that students meet New Jersey High School Diploma and IB Diploma Program requirements. ● Oversee relevant programs that build student career readiness and personal development eg: Duke of Edinburgh, Work Experience. ● Conduct workshops and informational sessions for students and families on college and career topics, including standardized test preparation. ● Organize college visits, career fairs, and informational sessions that introduce students to a range of college and career options. ● Serve as a resource for students exploring diverse post-secondary paths, including trade schools, community colleges, work, and other international programs. ● Participate in school events and activities, build relationships with students and families through involvement in classes, extra-curricular activities and student wellbeing initiatives. Qualifications: ● Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. ● Extensive knowledge of college admissions processes in the United States ● Experience working in high school counseling, college advising, or a related field. ● Strong connections to local and regional colleges and universities are highly desirable. ● Familiarity with the New Jersey and International Baccalaureate high school curriculum requirements. ● Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. ● Proficiency in English. We're seeking a dynamic, student-centred Senior University Admissions Counsellor to guide our diverse global student body through the university application journey, from early exploration right through to enrolment. You'll work with ambitious students across multiple time zones, helping them secure places at top universities in the US, UK, and beyond. What are the main responsibilities for this role? Student Guidance & Support * Provide personalised, holistic counselling from initial exploration through to final enrolment decisions * Build strong relationships with students and families, understanding their aspirations, strengths, and challenges * Guide students in identifying right-fit universities and support them through essays, interviews, and application timelines * Serve as a mentor and advocate, supporting students' overall development and wellbeing University Relations & Networking * Develop and maintain strong relationships with admissions officers at US and international universities * Attend virtual and in-person college fairs, conferences, and admissions events * Stay current on changing admissions requirements, trends, and opportunities Documentation & Application Management * Compile and organise all required student documentation for university applications * Generate official transcripts in formats required by various institutions and platforms * Coordinate recommendation letters and verify accuracy of all application materials * Manage document authentication, apostille processes, and translations as needed Curriculum & Academic Advising * Demonstrate thorough knowledge of US and UK curricula (AP, IB, A-Levels, GCSEs) * Advise students on course selection that strengthens their applications * Guide students on standardised testing strategies (SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS) Collaboration & Innovation * Work closely with teachers, leadership, and admin teams to support student success * Create workshops on interview skills, career exploration, and application strategy * Identify challenges and develop creative, student-first solutions What skills and experience are required? * Bachelor's degree required; Master's in counselling, education, or related field preferred * 3-5+ years of experience in college admissions counselling or university admissions * Deep understanding of US and UK educational systems and application processes * Experience with transcript preparation, document management, and academic records * Proven track record of successful placements across diverse institutions * Exceptional communication and organisational skills * Comfortable working remotely across multiple time zones * Experience in international or online education preferred Nice to have: * Familiarity with Common Application, UCAS, Coalition App, and other platforms * Knowledge of financial aid processes and scholarship opportunities * Professional network within the university admissions community * Experience with data analysis to track student outcomes Why work for Crimson? * Rapidly growing start-up with a flexible working environment where you'll be empowered to structure how you work * Limitless development and exposure - internal promotions/role changes made up 33% of all recruitment last year * $1,000 individual training budget per year - we love to 'Level Up' (it's one of our core values!) * Psychologist on staff * Insightful fireside chats and workshops to support our high-performing team * Radical Candor is a feedback approach we live by * We're a global player with 28 markets (and growing) across the globe
