Job Description About Acting Out Acting Out is a growing performing arts school dedicated to helping children and teens build confidence, creativity, and communication skills through acting, musical theatre, improv, and performance. With locations in Westfield and Metuchen, we provide a supportive, inclusive environment where students are encouraged to take risks, develop their talents, and discover their unique voice. We are seeking a passionate and organized Studio Director & Lead Theatre Instructor to help lead our programs and continue building an exceptional experience for our students and families. This position is ideal for a strong theatre educator who is excited to take on greater leadership responsibility and grow into a key role within our organization. While teaching and directing are at the heart of the position, the successful candidate will also help oversee studio operations and learn the administrative side of running a performing arts school. What You'll Do Teaching & Program Leadership • Teach acting, musical theatre, and related performing arts classes for students ages 5–17., • Direct student showcases, productions, and special performances., • Create engaging lesson plans that foster creativity, confidence, and skill development., • Mentor students and help create a positive, supportive studio culture., • Support curriculum development and help shape future class offerings and programs. Studio Operations & Leadership • Assist with scheduling, student communications, registrations, and studio administration., • Coordinate with ownership to ensure smooth day-to-day operations., • Support and mentor part-time instructors., • Help plan workshops, camps, performances, and special events., • Contribute to marketing, community outreach, and student recruitment efforts., • Represent Acting Out professionally within the community. What We're Looking For Required • Strong background in theatre, acting, musical theatre, or theatre education., • Experience teaching children and/or teens in a performing arts setting., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills., • Highly organized with strong attention to detail., • Comfortable learning software systems and administrative processes., • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, small business environment., • A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of projects. Preferred • Experience directing youth productions or showcases., • Leadership or supervisory experience., • Experience with customer service, scheduling, or educational administration., • Social media, marketing, or graphic design experience., • Basic musical theatre knowledge.
