Job Title: Manager, Communications Research & Insights Location: New York, NY (Hybrid 3days - Tues. Wed, Thurs) Duration: 6 months contract As a Communications Research & Insights Manager, you'll be part of the Global Communications & Public Affairs team, focusing on bringing data-driven insights to our work. You'll produce communications reports and analyses from various sources, including communications channels (media, social media, brand and executive handles, as well as internal channels) as well as survey research. A key part of your role will be to extract actionable insights from data to help shape our communications strategies for Google, our brands and products. You'll also make use of various tools to make data accessible to the team and present your findings to internal stakeholders. Job responsibilities • Analyze data from a variety of sources, including internal channels, media coverage, social media platforms, executive accounts and Google's owned channels. You'll utilize a thorough understanding of key topics as you turn raw data into clear, actionable insights that help shape our communications strategy., • Produce regular reports providing key metrics and guide teams to help measure what matters., • Make data accessible and easy to understand for the entire communications team via media monitoring and tracking tools (eg. NewsWhip, Brandwatch) and presentations., • Present findings and strategic recommendations to a wide range of stakeholders, from communications managers to senior leaders., • Drive cross-functional collaboration across teams within Google. You'll partner with internal and external stakeholders to come up with actionable insights., • Serve as a subject matter expert on communications measurement. You'll work directly with communications managers across the team to help them define measurement goals for their projects and execute data-driven campaigns., • Support the execution of measurement and insights programmes, including setting up new measurement and insights frameworks for various parts of our communications team. Minimum qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or Data Science (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science), related field, or equivalent practical experience., • Experience working on analytics & insights projects with the ability to oversee, plan, and execute on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment., • Experience in client management in an PR/comms agency or in-house research and insights environment., • Strong experience with data analysis and visualization tools. A solid understanding of communications measurement methodologies is a must., • Ability to connect data to broader business goals and communications objectives., • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues related to data collection, analysis, and reporting., • Experience managing relationships with external agencies and data providers., • Ability to stay current with the latest social measurement trends, as well as relevant industry trends., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills., • Excellent presentation skills and a track record of working effectively with cross-functional teams., • Experience in media analytics tools and consumer research (e.g., Brandwatch, Memo, NewsWhip, Global Web Index, YouGov, etc.) Preferred qualifications • Communications measurement agency experience, experience in supporting tech industry clients is a plus., • Experience with statistical modeling, and data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Data Studio, Sheets, Tableau, etc.)., • Experience using AI tools in the work setting (Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude)., • Experience in primary research (surveys)., • Experience in analyzing and interpreting data across earned, shared, and owned media., • Experience building measurement key performance indicators and frameworks relating to media measurement (e.g., earned media, social media, owned content performance).
