The Prep Cook at LGA is responsible for delivering the OTG guest experience. The ability to prepare food to the correct temperature, portion, and plating specifications while maintaining a clean and sanitized area, is critical to success in this role. In This Role, You Will: An OTG Prep Cook will work in OTG’s prep kitchens and/or on the line of one of OTG’s fast-casual concepts Support the BOH by prepping many of the ingredients for the BOH lines Prepare food to the correct temperature each time, portion sizing and plating with identical contents and appearance for consistent presentation according to OTG specifications Responsible for controlling the quality of all food items prepared to OTG specifications and restaurant directions Maintain organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of work areas and equipment Knowledge of operating all kitchen equipment (i.e., stoves, ovens, broilers, slicers, steamers, kettles, etc.) Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others and work toward the goal of guest satisfaction Other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Criteria: Must be at least 18 years of age Must be fully conversational in English 1 to 2 years of culinary experience in a fast-paced restaurant (demonstrating entry-level cooking skills: prepping, grilling, frying, etc.) Must successfully obtain ServSafe Certification or equivalent within 30 days of being hired Knowledge of cooking procedures, safety, and sanitation Able to lift 35 lbs. or more Supporting other cooks and working in a team environment Must be mobile and able to stand for extended periods, stoop, kneel, and crouch Must be available to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, holidays, and bad weather conditions--must be flexible Equal Opportunity Employer We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer. School in the Square Middle serves the Washington Heights and Inwood communities where they support their students, families, and educators to support and celebrate each other's success. P.S. 187 Hudson Cliffs services grades K-8th Grade. Columbia Secondary School is a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) focused public school that serves students in the sixth through tenth grades. The program is focused on leadership, STEM, Social-Emotional Learning, community service, and academics. Students engage in weekly hikes, gardening initiatives, STEM activities, job shadowing, and college readiness programs. POSITION OVERVIEW: Group Leaders are responsible for academic tutoring and assisting lead instructors in preparing students to demonstrate newly acquired skills in STEM, leadership, sports and the arts. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Provide academic support, homework guidance, assistance, and supervision to students., • Organize, lead, and promote the students’ interest and participation in the activities offered by you or the program., • Supervise groups of students while maintaining their physical and emotional safety and health., • Foster an atmosphere of fun and learning, and serve as a role model to students., • Always conducting yourself professionally and maintaining appropriate boundaries., • Establish and enforce rules for behavior, and procedures for maintaining order among the students., • Maintain effective classroom management that encourages full participation and student growth., • Closely coordinate with the Program Director and coworkers for any programmatic changes or any other issues or concerns., • Participate in staff meetings, program evaluations, program improvement, and professional development training throughout the school year. COMPENSATION: • Work paid at $20 an hour., • Employees who are approved and assigned to teach classes will receive the Teaching Artist hourly rate of $21 an hour for the hours they are actively teaching. All non-instructional hours will be compensated at the employee's regular position rate of $20 an hour.
