Job DescriptionResidential Security System Installer – Skilled Trade Career OpportunityAbout the Role This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with their hands, are mechanically inclined, have provided good customer service, and have experience working outdoors. Candidates who come from hands‑on backgrounds or technical schooling often excel in this role. Security system installation and low‑voltage work is a skilled trade, and candidates must be interested in learning a trade that offers long‑term career stability and growth. You will be responsible for installing add‑on devices to existing customer security systems. If you already have security alarm experience, you will also help address customer service tickets. Most importantly, we are looking for people with potential—individuals comfortable with tools, technology, wiring, and construction environments. Training Program This is a paid training program with a clear week‑by‑week structure: • Week 1: Complete LMS training classes online, • Week 2: Field observation week shadowing a senior technician, • Week 3: Begin hands‑on installations under senior technician supervision, • Install and program Burglar Alarms, CCTV (IP & Analog), DVRs, and Access Control Systems for residential customers., • Install window breaks, door units, and smoke detectors., • Troubleshoot signal issues to ensure equipment operates properly., • Provide daily hands‑on interaction with customers on‑site, including smaller customer care needs., • Test and verify equipment signals., • Train customers on equipment usage, device connectivity, and answer all questions—ensuring no additional needs remain., • Complete all required customer paperwork for each job., • Record and cost all parts used on each installation before closing jobs with the dispatch center., • Maintain accurate truck inventory of products., • Deliver top‑quality customer service., • Achieve 90% goal attainment for completed installations with zero “go‑backs.”Required Skills, • Install, • Installation, • Excellent communication skills, • Reliability and adaptability, • Strong interpersonal skills, • Ability to think quickly and read non-verbal customer cues, • A customer‑centric, solution‑oriented mindset, • Ladder — full‑size or folding/extension (suggested model: Little Giant Velocity Model 17), • Screwdrivers, • Electric drill, • Wire cutters, • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Most work will be within the metro area; travel is typically kept within a 2‑hour driving radius. Mileage & Gas Reimbursement: • After training, up to $100 per week can be reimbursed for gas with submitted receipts. Yes. Schedules may be Mon–Fri or Tue–Sat. Overtime: Overtime is allowed. A sixth day may be requested but is not mandatory. Daily Hours: Technicians stay until the customer’s job is completed, whether that is 5 pm, 6 pm, or later. Tools & Expenses FAQ Can tools or ladders be expensed? No. Technicians must provide their own tools and ladders. A foldable ladder is strongly recommended as it fits in smaller vehicles. Tools are not required on day one. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albany, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
