Job DescriptionJob Title: Forklift Operator Job Description Join a small, close‑knit warehouse team with one of the county’s largest distributors of carwash equipment and components. In this permanent role, you spend part of your day operating a sit-down forklift to move materials and the rest building and selecting orders using an iPad and scanner. You support accurate, efficient order fulfillment while working in a clean, well-organized warehouse environment with long-term employment potential. Responsibilities • Operate a sit-down forklift safely for approximately 40% of the shift to move, stage, and organize materials., • Use an iPad and RF scanner to locate products by aisle and bay in an alphabetically organized warehouse., • Select stock accurately to fill customer orders, following order requirements and shelf locations., • Build and prepare pallets for shipping, ensuring items are properly stacked and secured., • Use an automated wrap machine to wrap pallets and prepare them for delivery., • Stage completed orders in the designated shipping area for pickup or delivery., • Meet or exceed productivity goals while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail., • Handle general material handling tasks such as lifting, picking, packing, and moving product as needed., • Use pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment safely to move materials throughout the facility., • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate work and maintain an efficient workflow., • Perform additional warehouse duties and general labor tasks as required to support daily operations.Essential Skills, • Minimum of 6 months of sit-down forklift experience or previous forklift certification., • Proven ability to operate a sit-down forklift safely in a warehouse environment., • Experience with order picking, order pulling, and order building in a distribution or warehouse setting., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds consistently throughout the shift., • Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods of time., • Reliable transportation to and from the worksite., • Comfort using an iPad and RF scanner to locate and pick products., • High school diploma or GED., • Willingness to complete pre-employment drug screening and background check.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience as a warehouse material handler or general laborer in a distribution or logistics environment., • Familiarity with pallet jacks and other basic warehouse equipment., • background in shipping and packing processes, including staging and wrapping pallets for delivery., • Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team., • Strong attention to detail to ensure order accuracy and proper labeling., • Comfort working in a non–temperature-controlled warehouse environment across different seasons.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a modern, new warehouse facility that is clean, organized, and laid out alphabetically for efficient picking. The environment is not temperature controlled, so it can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. You work a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the possibility of a 6:30 a.m. start; candidates should be comfortable with either start time. A standard workweek includes 5 to 10 hours of overtime. You work closely with a small team of about four people in a collaborative setting. Daily work involves operating sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, an automated wrap machine, and using an iPad with an RF scanner to complete order picking tasks. The facility focuses on carwash equipment, service, and cleaning solutions, and the work is primarily hands-on, physical warehouse activity. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Troy, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
