SUMMARY Under general supervision, the Dentist is responsible for providing comprehensive dental care to the people we support at ADAPT Community Network, in accordance with agency policies, professional standards, and the regulations and requirements of applicable regulatory agencies. The Dentist oversees all aspects of clinical dental operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered dental services, and provides supervision, guidance, and support to Dental Hygienists, Dental Assistants, and other clinic staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities of the Dentist will include, but are not limited to, the following: • Provide preventive, diagnostic, and restorative dental services to the people we support, including examinations, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and other indicated treatments., • Develop individualized treatment plans and ensure they are implemented in alignment with each patient’s clinical needs and preferences., • Oversee the work of Dental Hygienists and Dental Assistants to ensure adherence to clinical standards, infection control procedures, and quality assurance protocols., • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation of all treatments, diagnoses, and recommendations in accordance with professional and agency standards., • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations governing dental practice, as well as agency policies and procedures., • Provide education and counseling to the people we support, caregivers, and staff regarding oral hygiene, disease prevention, and dental care practices., • Consult and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including medical professionals and other service providers, to coordinate comprehensive care., • Supervise the maintenance and proper operation of dental equipment; identify and report any repairs or replacements needed to maintain clinical readiness and safety., • Maintain professional relationships with external vendors, laboratories, and suppliers to support clinic operations., • Participate in departmental meetings, in-service training programs, and professional development activities to remain current with best practices and advances in dentistry., • Direct all important clinical concerns or operational issues to appropriate supervisors or agency leadership as needed., • Maintain the strictest confidentiality of patient information and records in compliance with HIPAA and agency standards., • Perform other related duties as requested. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school., • At least two years of related dental experience preferred, as well as experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities., • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English., • Excellent oral and written communication skills., • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively and compassionately with individuals served, families, and staff., • Thorough knowledge of current dental practices, instruments, and procedures., • High proficiency in the use, calibration, and maintenance of dental equipment and diagnostic tools., • Ability to work independently and take appropriate clinical action within established guidelines and ethical standards., • Commitment to person-centered care, safety, and quality service delivery., • Must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality of patient records and sensitive information., • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team., • Passion for ADAPT Community Network’s mission and the nonprofit sector.
