Job Description About ShipFlow ShipFlow is a tech-enabled third-party logistics (3PL) based in New Brunswick, NJ. We specialize in high-touch DTC, e-commerce, and B2B fulfillment for brands across footwear, apparel, and consumer products. Our clients aren't shipping commodities — they're shipping their brand experience, and we take that seriously. Our warehouse floor moves fast — tens of thousands of orders processed daily across a growing roster of brands that trust us to represent them at the last mile. We hold ourselves to a high standard on accuracy, speed, and client experience. We're not a massive corporate 3PL with a 200-page playbook. We're a tight, capable team that takes ownership, solves problems, and moves with urgency. We're building something special here. Our goal is to become the go-to fulfillment partner for premium DTC and omnichannel brands — the kind of brands that have options and choose us because our operation is best in class. That starts with this hire. The Role This is not a manage-the-status-quo job. We're looking for a Head of Operations who wants to build — build the team, build the systems, build the culture, and build the foundation that attracts bigger and better brands as we scale. You'll own the entire operation from floor to client, reporting directly to the CEO with full visibility into where this company is going. We need someone who's detail-obsessed, analytically sharp, creatively minded, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where the answer isn't always in a manual. If you've thrived in a growth-stage 3PL and are ready to step into a role where your fingerprints are on everything — this is it. As ShipFlow grows, this role grows with it. The right person will have a clear path to VP of Operations as we scale headcount, clients, and facilities. What You'll Own • Full operational ownership across all shifts: receiving, putaway, pick/pack, shipping, and returns, • Leadership and development of warehouse team leads and associates (20–50+ headcount) — you're building this team, not just inheriting it, • KPI management: order accuracy, dock-to-stock time, cycle times, SLA compliance, • Inventory control: cycle counts, discrepancy resolution, stock integrity, • Capacity and headcount planning — forecasting labor and operational needs as we scale, • Client-facing operational communication — you're the point of contact when brands need answers, • WMS adherence and process enforcement (we run Logiwa), • Build, document, and continuously improve SOPs — processes that scale, not workarounds that stick, • Identify operational gaps before they become problems and bring solutions proactively, • Cost and labor efficiency — you understand the margin impact of every operational decision, • Support new client onboarding, account launches, and VAS project execution, • Safety compliance — clean, organized, OSHA-compliant at all times Within your first 90 days you will have learned every process in the operation, documented SOPs where they don't exist, established performance benchmarks for your team, and taken full ownership of day-to-day ops from leadership. What We're Looking For • 5+ years of operations management in a 3PL, e-commerce fulfillment, or omnichannel distribution environment, • Experience fulfilling for DTC or B2B brands in apparel, footwear, or consumer products strongly preferred — you understand that how the product ships is part of the brand experience, • Lean/Six Sigma exposure — you think in systems, not just tasks, • Deep understanding of fulfillment operations end-to-end — from inbound planning to last-mile handoff, • Analytically driven — you use data to find root causes, measure improvements, and make decisions, • Creative problem solver — when the playbook doesn't have the answer, you write a new page, • Forward-thinking mindset — you're not just running today's operation, you're designing tomorrow's, • Proven ability to build and implement processes from scratch, not just follow existing ones, • Proven experience hiring, developing, and holding accountable teams of 20–50+ people, • Hands-on leadership style — you're on the floor, not just behind a desk, • WMS proficiency (Logiwa experience is a real plus), • Strong communicator — with your team, with brands, and with leadership, • Thrives in a growth-stage, founder-led environment — you want ownership, not just a job description, • OSHA knowledge and a safety-first mentality, • Walk us through the best operational process you ever built from scratch — what was broken, what you did, and what the measurable result was, • Tell us about a hire that didn't work out — what happened and what you learned This is a foundational leadership hire. You'll be the first person in this seat with the mandate to truly own it — build the team underneath you, establish the standards, and grow into a VP of Operations role as ShipFlow scales. If you're looking for a stable 9-to-5 with a clear manual, this isn't it. If you want to build something you're proud of and grow with a company that's going somewhere — let's talk. Compensation $75,000 – $100,000 annually, based on experience. Full-time, on-site.
