Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY: The Mascot Performer brings specific characters to life through high-energy, engaging, and family-friendly performances inside our stores. This role requires individuals to wear inflatable mascot costumes and use physical theater techniques to convey character emotions, humor, and storytelling without spoken words. Performers will create memorable experiences for customers during events, promotions, and in-store appearances. Given the physical demands of the role, performers must be in good physical condition, comfortable in costume environments, and skilled at entertaining diverse audiences. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Run, jump, safely fall or roll on the floor, toss and catch soft props (such as pillows), and perform playful physical comedy as part of routines., • Physically convey character emotions, humor, and storylines through gestures, movement, and body language, as no verbal communication is used., • Collaborate with event coordinators, store managers, and marketing teams to ensure performance aligns with event objectives and brand image., • Engage and interact with customers, creating fun, family-friendly moments that enhance the overall store experience., • Ensure costumes and equipment are properly used, maintained, and stored after each performance., • Adapt performances for different store layouts, audience sizes, and event types., • Comply with all company safety guidelines while performing physically demanding tasks inside the inflatable mascot costumes., • Maintain a professional demeanor with colleagues, customers, and children at all times., • Assist with basic event setup and teardown as needed to support the store or marketing team., • Be flexible and ready to improvise when unexpected situations arise during live performances. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to meet the physical, performance, and professionalism requirements outlined below. • Prior experience in performing arts, theater, dance, entertainment, or similar roles preferred but not required., • Comfortable performing in front of large and small audiences, including children and families., • Physically fit and able to stand, walk, dance, run, jump, kneel, and perform playful stunts inside a costume for extended periods of time., • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and work in warm environments while in costume., • Strong coordination, stamina, and agility to perform energetic routines safely., • Excellent nonverbal communication skills to express emotions and character traits effectively., • Team-oriented with a positive attitude and strong work ethic., • Reliable and punctual with excellent time management skills., • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus but not required. Please note: Our mascot costumes are manufactured to fit most individuals between 5’1” and 5’9”. This range is based on the design of the costume and is necessary to ensure performer safety, mobility, and comfort while engaging in physical activity. Candidates outside this range may find the costume does not fit as intended. SKILLS & ABILITIES Performance Skills • Knowledge of basic acting, pantomime, or dance techniques., • Ability to stay in character and deliver consistent performances., • Comfort with improvisation and audience interaction. Physical Requirements, • Ability to work in physically demanding conditions inside inflatable costumes., • Comfortable with heat, limited vision, and restricted movement while in costume., • Willingness to perform multiple shows per day if required., • Ability to perform safe physical comedy including running, jumping, rolling, and tossing props.
