Job DescriptionDescription: Job Summary: The Program Coordinator – Courthouse Children’s Centers serves as the on-site operational and supervisory lead for the YWCA’s Children’s Centers located within the Westchester County Family Courts (White Plains, Yonkers, and New Rochelle). As the sole nonprofit operator of all Children’s Centers in Westchester County, the YWCA provides safe, developmentally appropriate childcare for children while caregivers attend court proceedings. This role ensures uninterrupted daily operations, direct supervision of Child Care Workers, compliance with Unified Court System (UCS/OCA) standards, and consistent program visibility throughout courthouse environments. The coordinator is responsible for cultivating a culture of professionalism, accountability, and proactive outreach. In the absence of the Assistant Director, the Coordinator serves as the designated operational lead for assigned sites. Key Responsibilities: Site Operations & Continuity • Lead daily operations across assigned courthouse sites., • Ensure full staffing coverage and required staff-to-child ratios at all times., • Conduct weekly site walkthroughs and operational readiness checks., • Ensure centers are fully equipped with supplies, materials, and learning tools., • Maintain safe, clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate environments., • Oversee age-appropriate activities and structured play in accordance with OCA’s monthly theme., • Support staff in delivering child-centered, trauma-informed care., • Maintain clean, safe, and well-organized interactive and play areas., • Coordinate, plan, and organize appropriate activities with staff., • Prepare snacks as needed., • Prepare sites for monitoring visits, audits, and inspections., • Observe and address developmental or safety concerns., • Assist children with clothing changes and diapering when necessary., • Provide a safe, nurturing environment for children of all ages., • Model and promote positive social skills, including communication and conflict resolution., • Observe, monitor, and report any developmental or safety concerns. Compliance & Documentation: • Maintain compliance with UCS/OCA Children’s Center requirements, • Ensure accurate completion of intake logs, attendance records, and required reports., • Submit incident reports within 24 hours of occurrence. Staff Supervision & Development: • Conduct monthly internal documentation reviews., • Model positive behavior guidance and conflict resolution strategies., • Provide task-level guidance and oversight to childcare worker staff., • Assist with staff onboarding, training coordination, and scheduling., • Escalate operational, staffing, or incident-related concerns to the Assistant Director. Risk Management & Safety: • Enforce emergency procedures and safety protocols., • Ensure compliance with mandated reporting requirements., • Identify potential risks and escalate concerns immediately. Other Responsibilities: • Perform additional duties assigned by the supervisor. Requirements: Qualifications: Education: • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a regulated childcare environment., • At least 2 years in supervisory or lead capacity preferred, • Experience in multi-site or government-based settings preferred., • Strong supervision and staff coaching ability., • Clear written documentation skills., • Professional demeanor appropriate for courthouse settings., • Strong organizational and follow-through skills., • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred., • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
