Job DescriptionSalary: Animal Specialty Center is seeking a Diagnostic Imaging Assistant to join our collaborative, positive, and forward-thinking team. Diagnostic Imaging Assistant Position Summary: Diagnostic Imaging Assistants are behind-the-scenes support staff that facilitate imaging for veterinary patients in all departments. They help the veterinary team perform diagnostic imaging procedures on patients, but they do not provide medical care. This would include taking radiographs, running CT machine, and running MRI machine. Current schedule: Thursday & Friday 8am-5pm. Scheduled on-call for 1-2 Saturdays a month Diagnostic Imaging Assistant duties include: Work with lead MRI technician and clinical team to coordinate planned and urgent imaging needs. Take x-rays for appointments, pre-operative, and peri-operative. Coordinate and facilitate patient imaging requests Coordinate and facilitate CT scans and MRI procedures Operating imaging equipment such as MRI machine or CT scanner and following safety protocols to ensure patient safety. Assist with digital patient records; formatting and uploading digital images into PACS. Work closely with the PACS support team to ensure exams are completed accurately and finalized. Maintaining standards of protocol for entering records into EMR (EzyVet, etc.). Implement safety procedures for patients, self, and staff to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation (ALARA). Manage patient transportation from room to room, discharges, and in-hospital house transport. Client communication for certain imaging procedures. Including but not limited to safety, processes, and estimate creation/explanation. Imaging Assistants need the following skills in order to be successful: Attention to detail:When working with medical imaging equipment, its important to follow the proper procedures to ensure the safety of patients and the quality of the images. Attention to detail can help you follow protocols and ensure the quality of the images. You can also use attention to detail to ensure the cleanliness of the equipment. Communication skills:Communication skills are essential for Diagnostic Imaging Assistants because you will need to collaborate with both the clinical staff and communicate with clients. Organizational skills:As an imaging assistant, youll be responsible for keeping the CT and MRI areas organized and clean. This includes keeping the scanning equipment clean and organized, keeping the scanning room free of clutter, and keeping track of the scanning rooms inventory. Organizational skills are important for this role because youll be responsible for keeping the scanning room in good condition.
