Job DescriptionSalary: $29-$33 per hour The Veterinary Technician Supervisor is responsible for seeing that administrative policies are carried out. The supervisors realm of authority and decision-making may be very broad depending on the administrative needs and criteria established. Generally, the Technician Supervisor will be responsible for the daily oversight of patient care including scheduling of assistants, technicians and RVTs, handling client complaints regarding patient care, mentorship and training of staff, and may act as a liaison between the Practice Owner, Practice Manager, Office Manager and the rest of the hospital team. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS RVT license required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Minimum 5 years experience as an RVT and exceptional at the job-related skills outlined job description. PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS Genuinely enjoy working in an animal-related field and the environment that goes along with working with animals. Physical Effort: Work requires the ability to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects and boxes; good limb agility a must. Tasks require some bending, stooping, crouching, and reaching. Must be able to physically operate a variety of small office machines and equipment including computers, office equipment, telephones, etc. Working conditions: May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches and contagious diseases. Some storage facilities are not climate-controlled, therefore exposure to heat and cold for short periods of time is possible. Wage Range The range for the position is $29 per hour to $33 per hour depending on licensure and experience. Benefits are outlined in the employee manual and are separate from the hourly wage. Personnel Dependable, arrives at shift in a timely manner and is committed to upholding the core values and mission of the hospital Supervises Assistants, Technicians and RVTs and acts as support where needed. Assists in reviewing applications, screens applicants, and narrows the applicant choices through the interview process. Handles performance evaluations for all technical team members, introductory, annual and performance counseling as needs arise individually. Act as a liaison between doctors and team members. Oversee the training and mentorship of new employees in the patient care positions. Intervene/oversee personnel issues in the patient care department and assist with conflict resolution. Conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner even when stressed and/or focused on individual tasks. Lead staff in accordance with WCAH core values and mission statement. Conducts employee performance improvement discussions and disciplinary actions. Handle or oversee all staff scheduling, promoting the best use of staff during peak hours as well as compensating the schedule for slower times. Assist with training programs related to employee development. Provide feedback and praise to staff both in the moment and during staff meetings. Monitor staff productivity. Mentors and trains technician leads. Conducts monthly one-on-one meetings with mentees and provides written summaries to the practice manager. Calmly handle, document, and submit worker comp claims for workplace injuries. Must file within 24 hours of incident. Productivity Executes the job functions and responsibilities of the technician lead as necessary when technician leads are not available. Function as a contact person for clients concerning complaints or problems that the client may be experiencing with the hospital. Directs patient care staff through structuring, scheduling, motivation, and education to produce the highest level of client satisfaction possible from services the patient care team, provides. Oversee appointment scheduling to accommodate caseloads and ensure client needs are being met but staff is not overwhelmed. Research poor client satisfaction surveys by interviewing tech assistant and RVTs that interacted with the client to understand what happened and what can be improved Educates clients about procedures, conditions, mediations Designs and implements efficient work flow/protocols for the back office Handles and resolves hospital productivity concerns prior to them being escalated to Practice Manager. Audit invoices/records prior to patient discharge. Be the driver of positive change and new implementation. Other Duties Assist with creating staff schedules in WhenIWork and team assignments in Pulse. Assist and fill in when vacant positions arise or when hospital flow warrants. Monitor staff periodically throughout the day, encourage productivity, discourage behaviors that may be detrimental to the positive atmosphere of the work environment. Oversee management of programs to minimize loss and maximize product or monetary reimbursement to the hospital. Assist the Practice Manager or Practice Owner with other duties as needed.
