A day in the life: The main responsibilities of our Technician Assistants is to help care for our patients in both our hospital and boarding services. Youll spend time caring for boarding pets while their parents are away, doing potty breaks, playtime activities, feeding and medicating and maintaining their suites with our standard of cleanliness. Youll also act as an aid to our veterinary technicians in our hospital - caring for hospitalized patients, drawing up vaccines, keeping our facility clean, sterilizing our surgical instruments, and organizing all of our lab samples. As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you'll be in the heart of the action from day one, supporting your team, comforting pet parents, and learning the ropes in real time. WHAT YOU'LL DO* • Be the first warm welcome and a steady support, triaging incoming patients and helping guide them toward care, • Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, from bloodwork and imaging to catheter placement and oxygen support, • Work alongside our credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases, • Set up and manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration, • Assist during every moment of care: outpatient or inpatient, exam room to treatment area, • Join patient rounds and stay close to the clinical picture to ensure continuity of care, • Learn how to perform CPR and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer (training provided!) Rabies vaccinations are required for all externs (even if you are already employed by us) since you may be handling pets with an unknown rabies vaccination status.
