Job Description We are a full service veterinary hospital dedicated to high quality medicine, looking for a conscientious, hard working team player to fill a full time position. Must be a self starter that can work independently and feel comfortable working with cats and dogs in a group dynamic since our hospital offers day care services, baths as well as boarding. Candidates must have an outgoing, cheerful personality and be able to work in a fast-paced environment while giving excellent customer service and patient care. Experience not required. Smoke free and drug free facility. Responsibilities: • Can provide compassionate care to patients and clients., • Conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner even when stressed and/or focused on individual tasks., • Legibly keep accurate medical records in accordance hospital policy., • Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas., • Perform physical assessments; record observations legibly in files or computer., • Effectively restrain pets even when large of difficult., • Knows all common vaccines and vaccination protocols and can explain to clients., • Understands the importance of a clean and orderly facility, does not hesitate to clean or organize as part of a normal job duty., • Maintains positive, cooperative relationships with other employees., • Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients supporting hospital financial policies., • Explain necessary follow up and homecare instructions., • Properly care for all surgical materials and equipment; keep the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery., • Set up clinical laboratory procedures such as fecal flotation exams, heartworm checks, skin scrapings, urinalysis, ear cytology and fungal cultures; maintains file of lab results and ensures that results are recorded in patient records., • Assist in positioning for radiographs., • Understands the use and care of IV pumps., • Can admit patients following hospital policy and doctors written orders., • Discharge patients based on the veterinarian’s orders, ensure that patients are well groomed and in medically appropriate state., • Effectively and openly communicate with clients on a daily basis Salary: $11.00 - $14.00 per hour Benefits: • 401(k), • Employee discount, • Health insurance, • 8 hour shift, • Holidays, • Monday to Friday, • Veterinary experience: 1 year (Preferred)

ABOUT THE EXTERNSHIP VEG's Veterinary Technician Student Externship Program gives vet tech students hands-on experience in emergency medicine while working alongside our credentialed, emergency veterinary technicians. Students will focus on honing their emergency skills including obtaining patient vitals, processing laboratory samples, caring for hospitalized patients, triaging emerging cases, and collaborating in a fast-paced environment. If you're as interested in emergency medicine as we are, we'd love to have you! Note: This is an unpaid externship and rabies vaccinations are required unless your school's rabies mitigation policy allows you to be unvaccinated and still handle unvaccinated pets. • Flexibility: YOU Choose the length of your externship to meet your school's requirements, • Location: YOU choose where you'd like to extern (depending on hospital bandwidth), • Mentorship: YOU will be supported by a credentialed veterinary technician, • Focus: YOU will be fully-immersed in what emergency medicine truly entails REQUIREMENTS • Currently enrolled in an AVMA accredited veterinary technology or veterinary nursing program (or one actively seeking accreditation) and will be in a class that requires externship hours and/or skills. Job DescriptionDescriptionOur hospital is seeking a Full-Time Veterinary Technician to help provide outstanding patient care and client service in a fast-paced, multi-doctor animal hospital. The Veterinary Technician is responsible for assisting Veterinarians in the care of animals. The Technician helps during initial examinations by restraining animals when necessary, stocking examination and surgery rooms with supplies, sterilizing tools and ensuring that equipment is in working order. Technical skills will include, but are not limited to: venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia administration, and monitoring, dental prophy, radiography, administering medications, performing laboratory analysis, and client education. Veterinary Technician's also communicate with clients (pet owners) and update patient files.
