Job Description ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP Do you have a passion for tinkering and fixing electronics and electrical components? Do you love troubleshooting and learning to solve complex problems? The Sports Technology & Electronics Intern is a position that serves to satisfy scholastic “work-exposure” degree requirements while at the same time exposing potential EDM candidates to the SMT Operations Department. As an Electronics Intern, you will work in a support role for electronics preparation (with on-site services staff), analyzing, repairing, testing, operating, and maintaining electronic equipment to support all SMT operations. This is an on-site spring internship in Jacksonville, FL, averaging 40 hours a week. You will get to travel to sporting events to assist with setup of technical and electronic components. Pay for this internship is $14.50/hour. Electronics Interns will report to our Electronics Manager, Research and Development Engineering. YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT SMT • Assist with the setup of all necessary electronic components for SMT scoring system, ensure appropriate tests are coordinated on all equipment, and perform such tests., • Operate, repair, and modify electronic equipment components at event location., • Provide electronic based technical support onsite at events, and via telephone to ongoing events., • Provide preventative maintenance, repairs, and tests on SMT electronic equipment., • Assist with maintaining an organized work environment in the SMT Electronics Lab & SMT Warehouse., • Traveling to events to assist with deployment of SMT technology. WHAT YOU BRING TO SMT • The ability to perform basic troubleshooting techniques. Using theory of operation of electronic components such as transistors, other solid-state components, integrated circuits, motors, servos, power supplies and other electrical devices utilizing various technical documentation, • The ability to perform through hole and SMT solder rework., • Knowledge basic electronics components and functions., • Knowledge of basic use of test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscope, logic probes, etc.)., • Capability to interpret electronic schematics and use them for trouble shooting., • Hands-on computer hardware and software repair and modification knowledge, • The ability to, • work independently and to solve problems using knowledge & experience., • work well under pressure in new and unique environments., • travel to both domestic & international locations, • lift and carry 70lbs., • work in various conditions, stand for long periods of time, bend and move as needed to carry and troubleshoot equipment., • Willingness to climb ladders and use various equipment to set up displays.
