The Policy Research Intern will work with Strategy Co-Directors to collaborate with the ProGeorgia staff and Table Partners to establish and execute policy research opportunities that will enhance the work of the Table to strengthen Democracy. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, an inquisitive approach, data skills, research experience.This internship is also an opportunity to further develop those skills in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Policy Research Intern reports to the Policy and Redistricting Co-Director and is responsible for the following: Legislative & Policy Research • Conduct legislative research and analysis on key issues impacting ProGeorgia and its partners., • Track the emergence and progress of priority legislative bills., • Organize and analyze data to strengthen power mapping and targeting efforts., • Monitor redistricting map changes and collaborate with mapping partners to assess local impacts., • Prepare research materials and summaries to share with partner organizations., • Participate in meetings with stakeholders, including the Data Department, to advance research strategy., • Perform general administrative duties to support the Strategy Team’s operations. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Skills: • Demonstrated skills in research, analysis, and writing, • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite, • Keen interest in public policy, election administration, census, and redistricting, • Strong time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks appropriately, and schedule multiple projects, • A strong understanding of and demonstrated commitment to social and racial justice, civic engagement, and activism., • Knowledge of and commitment to personal growth and development on issues of racial equity and diversity, and to supporting others in growth around issues of racial equity., • Strong relationship-building and communication skills. Experience working in coalitions and public interest organizations., • Attention to detail, • Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information, • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a fast-paced environment, • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to think proactively and prioritize work., • Adhering to and encouraging others to be cognizant and compliant of safety and security measures within the organization., • Avoids and reports potentially unsafe conditions, • Uses equipment and materials properly., • Has a broad, big-picture view of the organization and its mission., • Innovates through analysis of issues and trends., • Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in Political Science, Data Science, Public Policy, or a related field., • Prior experience conducting research and analysis using a variety of data sources., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • Direct experience with the legislative process preferred, • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer, • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time. Location The position is located in Atlanta, Georgia, with the ability to work a remote schedule with some required travel (10%). Reports to: Policy and Redistricting Co-Director Compensation: Up to $24 an hour. Academic credit available for applicable Universities. Timeframe: Temporary position, January 2026-December 2026 Position Type: Part-time (20-25 hours per week) Schedule: Flexible within standard business hours, with some evenings and weekends as needed (specific schedule to be determined in collaboration with the supervisor)
