Job Description TITLE: PARAMEDIC – Emory Response Team DEPARTMENT: Operations EXEMPTION STATUS: Non-Exempt SUPERVISED BY: EMS Operations Supervisor SCHEDULE: As needed; Monday - Friday 0900-1700 SUMMARY: Responds to emergency-to-emergency and non-emergency requests for ambulance service and administers pre-hospital care and inter-facility medical care in accordance with approved company medical protocols, policies and procedures. Occasionally required to drive the emergency vehicle and is required to operate a two-way radio. The Paramedic is the primary care giver and is responsible for coordinating the clinical activities of the ambulance team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Provide patient care in accordance with company policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, directives and standards. · Maintain working knowledge and proficiency of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and other standards of care specific to the employee’s level of certification. · Respond to all assigned calls in an appropriate, safe and efficient manner. · Complete required documentation, obtain appropriate signatures and submit documentation as required for each assigned call by the end of each assigned shift. · Efficiently utilize supplies and equipment according to departmental guidelines; to include the efficient operation of all basic and advanced life support equipment, properly logging in and out equipment, cleaning and restocking units, reporting possible abuse or damage of equipment to the Field Operations Supervisor. · Maintain a thorough working knowledge of Emory facilities. · Maintain assigned area in a neat and serviceable condition · Perform all of the above functions in accordance with established financial and operational plans and goals pertaining to cost effectiveness and efficient management. · Prompt and regular attendance at work. · Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: · High School Diploma or GED · Paramedic License - State of Georgia · Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) · Advance Life Support (ACLS) · Basic Life Support (BLS) · Possess and maintain a current Georgia Driver’s license for at least 3 years · Must be at least 19 years of age KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY: · Knowledge of methods and techniques for providing on-site emergency medical services. · Knowledge of local area EMS and public safety structure. · Knowledge of local, Federal and State insurance billing guidelines for ambulance services. · Demonstrated ability to read English and understand medical terminology. · Demonstrated ability to write reports, business correspondence, and complete forms. · Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, superiors, customers and other public service agency personnel. · Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions regarding patient care, company operations and other customer service issues. Job Description JOB SUMMARY The purpose of this classification is to respond to fire and medical emergency calls for protection of life and property, to include various fire scene management emergencies and providing advanced life support to sick/injured persons. This position will serve “primarily” as Advanced Care Medical Emergencies and serve as Paramedic Support “only” to Fire Emergencies. The duties and responsibilities of a Paramedic are specific to the particular situation at hand. Paramedics deal with a wide variety of emergency situations and are usually responsibilities identified by the Fire Chief. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Responds to emergency calls for fire suppression, medical assistance, hazardous materials incidents, motor vehicle accidents, natural disasters, explosions, bomb threats, terrorism, rescue operations, downed power lines, and other emergency situations; responds to information received from dispatcher., • Maintains a state of readiness/preparation for emergency response; checks/maintains stock of equipment and supplies on fire vehicles and in fire station; Must be Certified as a Georgia State Firefighter 1 and qualify as an In-service Instructor within one year of hire. Must maintain ACLS, BLS, PALS annually. Special Qualifications: Must possess and maintain valid Georgia Certified Fire Fighter Certification 1 or 2. Must possess and maintain valid Georgia Paramedic License. Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting. Must demonstrate Superior Customer Focus; ability to communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors and patients; ability to accelerate and embrace change; and knowledge of our business. Training locations may vary based on trainer availability. Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent REQUIRED. Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred. Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington. Work Experience: 1-3 years phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric and capillary collections. 2 years in a Patient Service Centre environment preferred. Customer service in a retail or service environment highly preferred. Keyboard/data entry experience. Shift: Monday - Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients who come in, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. The PSR II has direct contact with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures to patients and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and accurate manner. The PSR II will demonstrate Leadership Behaviors while focusing on process excellence skills and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy to patient information. Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center or as business needs dictate. • Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time., • Maintain a safe and professional environment., • Performs with confidence, both the forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures., • Perform verification of patient demographic info / initials including patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct., • Maintains required records and documentation., • Demonstrates organizational commitment and promotes a positive image to patients, clients, employees and the public in general.
