Job DescriptionSalary: This position is responsible for the overall supervision of safety and health for various construction jobsites assigned to a designated geographic area specifically supporting Special Delivery projects. This position will serve as a liaison between the Director of Safety/Safety Manager and on-site full-time Safety Professionals to help coordinate responsiveness to Clients/Owners and support daily safety needs. Travel Daily to overnight, extended travel may be required. This position provides safety support to construction employees at various job sites located in Southern Virginia and Northern North Carolina. Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities • Responsible for multiple site visits weekly to support on site Safety or Field Supervision, • Works with Clients/Owners and/or Safety for delivery of Safety goals; attends required Client/Owner Safety meetings and walks, • Creates or supports the creation of safety documents for submittal, • Supports communication with between Safety and site supervisors, foreman and employees, • Conducts required training and documents, • Checks for fire extinguishers, first aid, spill kits and so on, • Reviews and audits 811-One Call markings, overhead/buried signs, electrical caution signs, barricades, work zones, road conditions and so on, • Supports or completed documentation for Safety Alerts, Near Misses, Accidents and Near-misses in the field, • Conducts meetings such as training, toolbox talks and safety stand downs with collaboration of Safety/field leadership, • Reviews safety policies and monitors for compliance and reports needed changes to Director of Safety or Regulatory Compliance Lead, • May conduct training on correct procedure for air monitors, rigging, fall protection, confined space, trenching excavation, • Creates site specific safety plans and required to audit site specific safety plans with on going projects, • Checks crane dailys, monthlys, CCOs, assembly/disassembly process in accordance to Beaver protocol, as well as equipment inspections., • May provide employees with PPE needs and addresses safety concerns, • Maintains compliance for all posters for BWC, OSHA and Emergency Contact, • Conducts checks for job-site cleanliness/organization, • Reviews and audits Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for Beaver crews and subcontractors, • Assesses job site hazards and is responsible for halting work until a problem or situation is corrected per the OSHA, MSHA, Customer or Beaver requirements, • Demonstrates initiative and professionalism in primary role of Beaver representation for Client/Owners, • Responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the company Skills & Requirements • Minimum of 5 years' experience in construction and/or industrial safety; safety management experience required, • Strong knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations (OSHA, MSHA, DOT, etc.), • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and strong organizational abilities, • Experience with Workers' Compensation administration and Drug-Free Workplace programs, • Willingness to conduct training across various jobsites as needed, • Demonstrated emotional intelligence in safety leadership, with the ability to communicate effectively from frontline workers to project management and field leadership Certifications • OSHA 30-hour, required, • OSHA 510, required, • OSHA 500, preferred, • First Aid & CPR, required, • MSHA Certification, a plus, • BCSP Certification, a plus Education • High school diploma or equivalent, • Degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related field, a plus Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
