Duties and Responsibilities • Installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing electrical wiring, lighting, and other components of the electrical system in homes or commercial buildings, including switches, outlets and light fixtures., • Installing electrical wiring and equipment in homes or businesses for power and lighting circuits., • Installing and replacing main services including service switches, meter sockets, end boxes and circuit breaker panels., • Installing electrical systems in remodeling and new construction projects, including temporary lighting and power, rough-in and trim-out., • Pulling and terminating cables., • Installing conduit and pulling wires., • Working with GC’s and others trades to plan electrical layouts for remodeling and new construction projects., • Ensure that work is in compliance with NYC Electrical Code, National Electrical Codes (NEC) and Utility Requirements., • Inspecting electrical systems to ensure they are safe and meet electrical codes and regulations., • Use a variety of tools and equipment to complete projects, including hand and power tools such as drills, screwdrivers, linemen’s pliers etc., • Installing low-voltage (LV) systems as required. e.g. LV lighting, doorbell/intercom wiring, boiler wiring etc., • Installing home automation systems, such as those that control lighting, climate control, security systems, and entertainment systems., • Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and schematics to determine the best course of action., • Test electrical systems and components to identify issues., • Troubleshoot electrical problems and make necessary repairs., • Assist other electricians as needed., • Assign duties and responsibilities to Electrician Helpers., • Adhere to all safety standards and procedures., • Maintain a clean and organized work area., • Provide excellent customer service and build positive relationships with clients.
