The Wastewater Collection System Lead Operator regularly participates in the daily operations and maintenance of the Wastewater Collection System as directed by the Project Manager. In this role, you will work under the direct or general supervision of the Project Manager. The applicant will perform a variety of operational duties to operate and clean the wastewater collections system. This includes operations of sewer cleaning and CCTV equipment, traffic control, and pump station maintenance. You will also perform preventative/corrective maintenance in support of the wastewater treatment plant. Schedule: Five, 8hr. shifts (6am to 2:30pm/Mon-Fri) after onboarding and training. May need to work rotating standby/on call, including weekends. A $200 stipend is provided for standby availability, with additional compensation for any hours worked while on standby.Additional Responsibilities Include: • Leads daily operation of the wastewater collection system, including gravity sewers, force mains, lift stations, and related infrastructure., • Monitor system performance and respond to alarms, overflows, or emergencies., • Schedule, assign, and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance activities (cleaning, inspection, and repair of pipes, manholes, pumps, valves, etc.)., • Ensure proper use of equipment such as CCTV inspections units, jetting/vacuum trucks, and confined space entry gear., • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations., • Maintain records of regulatory reporting, including overflow events, maintenance logs, and inspection results., • Conduct safety meetings and enforce safety protocols (confined space, lockout/tagout, traffic control, PPE, etc.)., • Respond to customer complaints and service requests., • Communicate with management, engineering, contractors, and regulatory agencies as needed., • Assist with asset inventory, condition assessment, and GIS mapping of the collection system., • Recommend upgrades, replacements and improvements to system reliability., • Lead response to system failures, blockages, spills or other emergencies., • Utilize software programs for maintenance work orders and maintain all necessary records., • Lead and train subordinate operational and maintenance staff assigned; advise and instruct on methods and techniques for improving efficiency of duties and operations., • Assist in preparing standard operating procedures., • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standard operating procedures., • Performs related work as required.What You Will Need To Succeed:, • A self-motivated, positive, can-do attitude!, • A valid Class A CDL is required., • National Association of Sewer Service Companies (NASSCO) certification is desired., • California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Collection System Maintenance Certification Grade 2 is preferred., • Experience operating heavy equipment is preferred., • Minimum of five years of professional experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater collection system is desired., • Proficiency with computers and mobile devices, including an ability to work with: SCADA, Microsoft Word, Excel, Maintenance Management Programs, and other site-specific systems., • High School Diploma or Equivalent., • Applicant must possess a valid CA Class C Driver’s License.
