Uncommon Schools Principal Fellows are strategically trained and developed using best-in-class practices with the goal of stepping into an Uncommon Principal role upon completion of the Fellowship, in which they will co-lead a school alongside an Uncommon Director of Operations. POSITION SUMMARY The Brook Supportive Housing Program has opportunities for Social Workers to join an established multidisciplinary team. The Brook permanently houses 189 residents; the majority are formerly street homeless and have serious mental and medical conditions (including HIV/AIDS) and substance misuse challenges. Social Workers are integral to our team and are responsible for helping chronically homeless individuals transition into permanent housing with supportive services. Our Social Workers provide direct clinical services to residents who have more intense psychiatric and behavioral health needs. They coordinate services that include medical care, psychiatric care, community living skills, financial management, information and referral, crisis management, supportive counseling and substance abuse treatment and referrals. The Brook provides a high level of support to its Social Workers through weekly individual supervision, rounds, on-site trainings, and staff meetings. Two-thirds of the 254 people freed or exonerated by the IP are people of color and 58% are Black. According to the National Registry of Exonerations, Black people comprise 47% of all known exonerations since 1989, even though they make up just 13% of the U.S. population. Furthermore, Black people are seven times more likely to be wrongfully convicted of murder than white people; a Black person convicted of sexual assault is 3.5 times more likely to be innocent than a white person convicted of such a crime; and innocent Black people are 12 times more likely to be wrongfully convicted of drug possession than innocent white people. The work of the IP has uncovered racial (and other) bias in prosecution, policing, indigent defense, and forensic science. To further advance the mission of the IP, the (Special) Advisor on Race and Wrongful Conviction will serve as an advisor, thought leader, expert and in-house resource on racial justice, equity, bias and discrimination and its impact on the functioning of the criminal legal system and, particularly, wrongful conviction. The (Special) Advisor on Race and Wrongful Conviction will set the vision for this work and will collaborate with the IP staff to ensure that the substantive work of the organization is consistently guided, informed, and supported by rigorous historical, academic, forensic and social science research and scholarship, legal decisions, and policies/practices that explain, expose, ameliorate and ultimately eliminate racial bias as a factor in criminal legal system decision making. Position: Director of Social Services Reports To: Program Director (Vice President) Location: Brooklyn, NY 11212 What The Director of Social Services Does: The person filling this position is expected, under general supervision, to: (1) aid individuals and/or families requiring social service assistance; (2) in collaboration with clients, interview and evaluate clients and formulate independent living plans; and (3) locate and make use of appropriate community resources for clients; including the following: • Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality., • Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures., • Comply with any and all Federal, State, City and CAMBA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information., • Ensure that newly admitted clients receive social service intake with 48 hours of assignment to case manager., • Monitor and track client intakes and move-outs utilizing DHS rosters to update the Landing master roster daily., • Oversee all ACS cases and ensure that monthly tracking forms are completed and submitted to DHS., • Review and update ACS client rosters., • Meet with community agencies to assist with high risk case conferences as needed., • Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality., • Communicate with peers in other CAMBA programs on issues related to client progress., • Understand all aspects of contract requirements and communicates this understanding to staff., • Supervise a minimum of four direct reporting staff and their subordinates to ensure that clients complete tasks (such as gaining entitlements, employment and housing options)., • Work with staff to set and achieve realistic monthly performance targets in accordance with contract requirements (such as completing ILPs, inspections, monitoring families with children age 0-24 months, ACS, LTS families and housing placements)., • Teach, coach and work with direct staff regarding how to interact with and/or engage clients to maintain entitlements to become eligible for housing subsidies., • Conduct weekly client progress reviews with staff., • Conduct periodic internal chart reviews and implement Quality Assurance measures as needed to ensure quality service delivery to clients., • Respond to critical incidences that require immediate attention., • Access client data using various tracking and program databases (i.e. - Client Tracking System (CTS), New York City Way, 4002 System). Education, Licenses and/or Certifications Required: • Bachelor’s degree w/five (5) years of relevant experience, or, • Master’s degree w/three (3) years of relevant experience. If the degree is specifically in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Counseling/Guidance, or Art Therapy, a corresponding professional license (LMSW, LCSW, LMHC) is also required. Job Summary The Supervisor of Technical Services is responsible for programming, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting all point‑of‑sale, mobile/remote ordering, BOH order processing systems and catering menu booking software.
