The therapist will assist with intubation and manage ventilator set-up and management. Gathering necessary information to evaluate the patient’s needs is essential, which includes patient-specific education, testing, and consultations with other healthcare professionals as appropriate. Developing rapport and mutual respect with patients and caregivers, as well as team members, is vital to foster an optimal environment in support of achieving goals. The therapist documents and provides education to patients and caregivers based upon identified needs in an understandable manner. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary. The role requires adherence to organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Physical requirements include lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 5 lbs., and standing for a minimum of 1 hour a day. Regular contact with medical personnel and visitors is expected. Every other weekend and one summer and one winter holiday are required. No on-call or float requirements are necessary for this position.
