This is a full-time, in-office position. The Tax Manager will report directly to the partners/principals and be responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, preparation, research, and review process of federal, state, and local tax returns for both individuals and businesses and provide guidance and leadership to staff members. Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following: • Assign work to team members. Manage team members to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and be a resource for team members, • Maintain timely and accurate communication with team and clients to manage expectations, deadlines, and deliverables, • Demonstrate advanced technical aptitude of taxation and lead preparation of complex tax returns including: individuals, C-Corp, S-Corp, partnerships, trust, estate, etc. for clients in a variety of industries, • Establish rapport and work directly with clients to resolve tax questions and issues. Advise clients on a full spectrum of tax services including planning, research and compliance. Periodic meetings with business clients to review financials and provide tax and business advice., • Top review of returns, workpapers, and issues. Completes thorough review of tax workpapers on a timely basis and assures audit evidence is in accordance with firm’s documentation standards. Review the work of associates and provide feedback for corrective action., • Perform extensive tax research on complex tax issues, • Prepare tax projections and identify tax planning opportunities, • Handle IRS, state, governmental correspondence and audits, • Provide guidance/mentorship to staff and assist them in developing technical skills, • Be a resource to partners, principles and managers for complex tax questions., • Identify staffing needs and manage the interview process, • Train new employees on firm technology, processes, and procedures, • Engage in advanced and specific CPE to improve technical skills and provide resources for staff, • Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards, • Continual involvement in all aspects of billing, • Identifies tax risk management issues and proposes potential solutions through research and collaboration with Engagement Partner, • Monitor firm tracking sheets and provide periodic reports to partners and principles. Ensure all clients are in the system and have been extended/completed/e-filed, • Present new ideas and improvements for ways of performing tasks to achieve firm and departmental goals, • Communicates with Partner on work status and client issues that arise, • Advanced knowledge of applicable accounting software (e.g. CCH Access Tax), • Primary client contact and liaison for complex issues that staff are unable to resolve; communicates effectively with clients and develop positive relationships with client personnel, • Maintains the Firm’s objective of integrity and follows the Firm’s core values, • Demonstrates professionalism through appearance and behavior Minimum Qualifications Or Job Requirements: • BS or Masters in Accounting required, • CPA License required, • 6+ years of progressive tax experience 6+ years’ experience in a similar role Public Accounting, • Prior experience managing engagements and clients, • Ability to make and support decisions regarding accounting and tax matters, • Sales and payroll tax experience, • Ability to work independently, but also in a team environment, • Ability to mentor, lead, train staff members and adapt to different learning styles of others, • Excellent communication and writing skills, • Working knowledge of CCH Axcess is preferred, • Smartsheet Experience is a plus, • Good organizational and project management skills Kamens & Associates is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
