Job Description Chief Nursing Officer-CNO The CNO will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is a key member of the executive leadership team and is responsible for the strategic direction, operational oversight, and continuous improvement of nursing services across the facility. This role ensures high-quality, patient-centered care, optimal resource utilization, regulatory compliance, and the advancement of professional nursing practice. Key Responsibilities * Provide executive leadership and oversight for all nursing operations, ensuring alignment with organizational mission, vision, and strategic goals. * Direct the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing standards, policies, procedures, and performance improvement programs. * Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, and cost-effective patient care across all nursing units and service lines. * Collaborate with senior leadership, medical staff, and interdisciplinary teams to drive clinical integration and enhance patient outcomes. * Foster a culture of nursing excellence, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning. Magnet experience is required. * Lead initiatives to improve patient satisfaction, staff engagement, quality outcomes, and financial performance. * Develop and maintain strong labor-management relations * Partner with Human Resources to oversee nursing recruitment, retention, credentialing, competencies, and performance management. * Guide the planning and execution of nursing education, training, and professional development programs. * Advocate for nurses across all levels, representing nursing perspectives at executive meetings and external forums. * Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and organizational regulations and nursing standards of care. * Collaborate with finance and administration to develop and manage operating, staffing, and capital budgets. * Monitor emerging healthcare trends, regulations, and ethical issues to proactively address challenges impacting nursing and patient care. * Promote evidence-based practice, research, and innovation to advance nursing practice and enhance the patient experience. * Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications * Valid New York State license and current registration as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN). * Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration or related field required; Doctorate preferred. * Minimum of 7 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, with at least 5 years in administration or management. * Proven ability to lead large, complex nursing organizations within an acute care or academic medical center environment. * Demonstrated expertise in labor relations, clinical integration, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement. * Strong financial acumen, with experience managing large budgets and resource allocation. * Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels of the organization.
