Key Responsibilities: • Clean assigned facilities and/or grounds (e.g. classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, grounds, etc.) to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment while adhering to maximum safety procedures., • Move books, files, boxes, furniture, etc., • Clean and sterilize all high-use areas to reduce the spread of bacteria and any other harmful agents., • Travel to nearby schools or warehouse/storage as required., • Perform maintenance of the building, such as drywall repairs; minor carpentry; classroom furniture; replacing light bulbs, & fixtures; painting projects; ceiling tile replacement; playground maintenance, athletic areas, grounds repairs; equipment audits, building inspections; safety issues, repairs; small landscaping projects; additional items as they arise., • Participate in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars to convey and/or gather information required to perform job functions., • Maintain exterior of the sites, including snow/ice removal, trash removal, etc. as needed, • Carry a handheld radio at all times while on school property if assigned by the Supervisor, • Follow federal and state laws, as well as company policies., • Report and assist with all emergencies as needed., • Perform other related duties as assigned. Has the ability to lift 35+ lbs, • Attention to detail and conscientiousness., • Excellent time and attendance, • Proven experience as custodian, janitor, or in a similar role., • Nurturing spirit and welcoming personality, • NYS fingerprint clearance, • Knowledge of the use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances, knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components, and familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices are preferred.
