Job Description PRIDE is seeking a Peer Specialist for a Client who supports independence and community inclusion within our Treatment Services division. Using evidence-based practice, lived experience, and person-centered approaches, this role promotes recovery, resilience, and meaningful community participation for the individuals we serve. Schedule: Friday-Tuesday: 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM • 4–8 week opportunity with the possibility of extensionPay Rate: $24-24/hr. Key Responsibilities: 1. Engagement and Relationship Building • Build authentic, empathy-driven relationships with participants and families, • Maintain a caseload and facilitate engagement through outreach and community awareness, • Use lived experience to bridge communication between team members and participants, • Encourage help-seeking and support individuals navigating ambivalence about treatment 2. Advocacy and Support, • Advocate for participant access to healthcare, addressing barriers such as transportation, stigma, and missed appointments, • Facilitate educational, wellness, and skill-building sessions (WRAP, harm reduction, peer support, etc.), • Assist participants in developing personal wellness toolkits and strengthening life skills, • Accompany individuals to appointments and community activities as needed 3. Crisis Support, • Provide non-clinical reassurance and support during pre-crisis and crisis situations, • Assist with activating wellness and recovery plans, • Support individuals post-discharge from emergency, crisis, or incarceration settings 4. Communication and Documentation, • Maintain timely and accurate documentation of interactions, services, and referrals, • Communicate openly with the team, reporting safety concerns and updates promptly, • Actively participate in team meetings, supervision, and required training 5. Community Participation, • Support individuals in building independence and connecting to long-term community resources, • Explore and bridge community spaces that promote integration and inclusion Required Qualifications: • Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) — OASAS and/or OMH/CRPA certification (provisional accepted), • CASAC Certificate, • Lived experience with the Mental Health and/or Substance Use Treatment system; willingness to share appropriately, • Active participation in peer support, self-help, or peer advocacy programs, • High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum), • Strong interpersonal, communication, and de-escalation skills, • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and exercise excellent judgment, • Trauma-informed, culturally competent approach to documentation and member needs, • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Preferred:, • Experience working with families, youth, and children, • Knowledge of local community resources and awareness of community diversity, • Bilingual (a plus) Pride-Health offers eligible employee's comprehensive healthcare coverage (medical, dental, and vision plans), supplemental coverage (accident insurance, critical illness insurance and hospital indemnity), 401(k)-retirement savings, life & disability insurance, an employee assistance program, legal support, auto, home insurance, pet insurance and employee discounts with preferred vendors.
