Job Description The Senior Immigration Litigation Paralegal position is a part of one of four legal teams at Murray Osorio. Murray Osorio’s litigation department handles immigration-related matters such as habeas corpus petitions, petitions for writs of mandamus, emergency injunctive relief, and lawsuits seeking review of visa petition denials, in federal district courts across the United States; as well as appeals of removal cases to the Board of Immigration Appeals and the various U.S. Courts of Appeals across the country. This candidate will be the first point of contact with clients in the preparation of their case across the country. You will be working with various immigration agencies and third-party professionals pertaining to the client’s needs. The position offers a rich environment where the ideal candidate will be exposed to specialize in handling complex cases before the Immigration court. Essential Responsibilities: • Assist in the preparation and filing of pleadings such as complaints, motions, Notices of Appeal and appeal briefs before various U.S. District Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, or U.S. Courts of Appeal., • Complete affidavits with clients and any witnesses., • Assist in the preparation of simple and/or complex motions., • Responsible for E-filing through ECAS or PACER/ECF., • Interpret cases as needed., • Maintain and update case-management database., • Maintain direct client contact (phone calls/emails)., • Schedule appointments for hearings, managing calendar, and deadlines., • Work with the Legal Assistant Team to ensure filing arrives at the proper location., • Develop effective working relationships and communicate with attorneys, staff, clients. This non-exempt position reports directly to the Administrative Manager and will support Tax Trusts and Estates Attorneys. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estate and trust administration, financial management, and legal documentation, with a proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with clients and third parties. Key responsibilities include managing estate and trust checkbooks, preparing and processing disbursements, reconciling bank statements, and maintaining accurate financial records. Client communication and accuracy is essential, as the role involves gathering information, providing updates, and maintaining organized client files. In estate administration, the paralegal will gather and analyze asset information, obtain valuations, prepare inventories, and assist with estate accountings and tax filings. Trust administration duties include tracking income and distributions, maintaining records, and preparing trust accountings. Additional responsibilities include drafting correspondence and legal documents, assisting with probate filings, conducting specialized research, and contributing to the development of consistent internal procedures for court and tax filings. Job Description JOB SUMMARY: This role involves managing administrative tasks associated with legal eviction cases. Responsibilities include editing and preparing correspondence and legal documents, maintaining electronic files, handling extensive calendaring and performing e-filing in state and city courts. The position also requires regular electronic communications with clients via proprietary websites to provide case status updates and seek fee approvals. The paralegal will work directly with, and report to, a Partner in firm’s eviction practice who is licensed in New York and New Jersey. This position will be based out of our office in Iselin, NJ, with the potential for a hybrid assignment as well. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Independently prepare and format eviction complaints, routine pleadings correspondence, and other legal documents., • Read and electronically organize e-mails., • File pleadings electronically with courts; mail service of documents and correspondence., • Maintain, organize and update firm and client systems with case status and progress notes., • Submit fee approval requests in client systems and enter billable time entries in the firm’s system., • Schedule and coordinate appointments and other meetings for the Partner., • Work closely with the Partner to drive the New York evictions portfolio., • Proofread legal documents as required, and assemble exhibits, ensuring proper redaction., • Paralegal will provide support to the Legal Team in a high volume, time sensitive work environment., • Provide service and client status updates; follow-up on outstanding documents and/or services; coordinate with title companies, process servers or other contacts to complete outstanding tasks such as missing documents., • Assist with portfolio/inventory management., • Manage and organize production of documents; identify privileged documents., • Generate reports and follow-up on identified outstanding tasks., • Will perform other duties and responsibilities as needed. EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE: • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent; Secondary education or some college a plus, • Minimum 4-6 year Litigation Paralegal experience with knowledge of eviction proceedings strongly preferred., • Paralegal certification preferred., • Proficiency with New York’s e-filing platforms required; Knowledge of the e-filing process in New Jersey a plus., • Experience with Default Real Estate and/or Eviction Processes a plus.
