Job Description Job Title: Sanitation Lead Job Description The Sanitation Lead oversees daily sanitation activities to ensure the facility consistently meets food-safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This role coordinates sanitation staff, verifies proper cleaning procedures, and ensures production areas, equipment, and workspaces remain in a safe, clean, and compliant condition. The position is well-suited for a detail-oriented professional with experience in food or beverage processing sanitation who is confident leading a team in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities • Lead and support the sanitation team in thoroughly cleaning production lines, equipment, floors, and facility areas., • Ensure all sanitation tasks are completed in accordance with established Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs)., • Oversee the proper use, storage, and handling of chemicals, cleaning tools, and sanitation equipment., • Verify that equipment is cleaned, rinsed, and sanitized to meet food-safety standards before production restarts., • Assign daily sanitation tasks and coordinate sanitation schedules based on production needs and priorities., • Train new and existing team members on sanitation procedures, chemical handling, and safety practices., • Monitor team performance, provide coaching, and reinforce high sanitation and safety standards., • Communicate effectively with production supervision, maintenance, and quality teams to coordinate cleaning activities and resolve issues., • Ensure all sanitation staff follow safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and chemical-handling guidelines., • Report equipment issues, leaks, damage, or potential hazards promptly to maintenance and management., • Support safe operation of sanitation equipment such as foaming units, pressure washers, and Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems., • Promote and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment throughout the facility., • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in sanitation processes, efficiency, and overall food-safety performance., • Experience in sanitation within food or beverage processing., • Prior leadership or lead-level experience in a production, warehouse, or sanitation environment strongly preferred., • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and food-safety regulations., • Ability to work in wet, cold, or hot environments and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods., • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and cross-functional departments., • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to manage schedules, tasks, and sanitation priorities., • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights or weekends, based on sanitation schedules and production demands., • Experience with forklift operation in a warehouse or production environment., • Experience in inventory, inventory control, cycle counts, and inventory management., • Familiarity with warehouse inventory processes and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems., • Experience in production management or production supervision, particularly in a food or beverage facility. Work Environment The role is based in a fast-paced cold manufacturing facility where production and sanitation activities run on structured schedules aligned with operational needs. You will work in wet, cold, and at times hot conditions, frequently around processing equipment, sanitation tools, and chemicals. The position may require flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to support sanitation schedules and production changeovers. Personal protective equipment is used regularly, and the environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to food-safety standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
