Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is searching for an experienced Safety Aide for our Families w/ Children facility located in the Jamaica area of Queens, NY. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Patrol interior and exterior areas of building., • Monitor the entry and exit of residents by maintaining a sign-in log and requiring identification., • Enforce rules and regulations., • Prepare incident reports or maintenance tickets on hazardous or dangerous conditions., • Learn the fire safety plan and evacuation procedures and assist in fire drills., • Prepare and assist in hazardous situations in the facility., • Intervene in incidents and assist in emergencies throughout the building., • Must be attentive to their post and could be standing for hours throughout their shift., • Assist in emergency building situations (e.g. shovel snow, clean up a spill, etc.), • Mandatory overtime which can include working a full double shift. QUALIFICATIONS: • Valid NYS Security Guard License., • Current 8-hour certificate., • 16-hour certificate., • F-02 (Certificate of Fitness for Fire Guard for Shelters) is a must., • F-80 (Certificate of Fitness for Coordinator of Fire Safety and Alarm Systems in Homeless Shelters) is a plus., • Welcomed - T89 (Certificate of Fitness for Fire Life and Safety Director).
