About the Position The Senior Policy Advisor for Regulatory Reform is a key role dedicated to advancing Governor Hochul’s commitment to modernizing New York’s regulatory landscape by reforming outdated and burdensome regulations and improving government delivery in the state. The incumbent will identify and resolve systemic bottlenecks to improve government efficiency and accelerate critical state priorities, such as affordable housing, universal childcare, and infrastructure development. Reporting to the Associate Director for Regulatory Reform within the State Operations team, this position is based in New York City with occasional required travel to Albany. Duties • Regulatory Review: Work with Chamber staff (counsel, operations, policy), state agencies, and stakeholders to manage a process and system to conduct a review of New York State’s regulations and advance reforms., • Permitting and Process Improvement: Advance work with agencies to accelerate permitting and project delivery by analyzing processes and implementing more efficient practices, new technology, and other improvements., • Stakeholder Engagement: Support with stakeholder engagement – including labor leaders, real estate developers, small business advocacy groups, and local government officials—to solicit input on "friction points" in current policies and practices., • Impact and Data Analysis: Conduct data analysis and synthesis as well as utilize new technologies, including AI, to help analyze New York State’s rules and regulations., • Project Management: Stand up a process for project management to coordinate and track progress across initiatives., • Performs related duties as required. Knowledge & Skills • Track record of strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills., • Ability to manage complexity, arrive at the appropriate insight, and synthesize key findings in a rapid fashion., • Commitment to public service and education., • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and using Artificial Intelligence. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s Degree and at least five years of relevant work experience with a focus on public administration, policy, or economic and/or data analysis. Employment with the New York State Executive Chamber is contingent upon the successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation. Preferred Qualifications • Broad experience in policy development and operations., • Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders.
