Job Description Must be meet all requirements and be familiar with OPWDD, OMH, and IDD populations Schedule: 21 hours per week Daytime hours Monday - Friday 9AM-5PM - exact schedule tbd Pay: OTE of $96,000 per year Summary: Under a collaborative agreement and practice protocol with a licensed psychiatrist, in compliance with NYS Education Law §6902(3) and NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) clinic regulations, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive psychiatric and mental health services to individuals across the lifespan, including adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and co-occurring mental health conditions. In this role, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner may serve as primary psychiatric provider for assigned caseloads under the supervisory structure defined by OMH guidelines. This position serves clients under the auspices of the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and OMH, delivering culturally competent, trauma-informed, and person-centered care within an interdisciplinary healthcare team. This position offers a unique opportunity to participate in the development and expansion of AHRC NYC’s integrated behavioral health continuum, including Article 31/MHOTRS services and specialized residential and community-based treatment programs serving individuals with co-occurring intellectual/developmental disabilities and serious mental illness. Responsibilities: Clinical Care • Manages treatment for individuals with serious mental illness (SMI), treatment-resistant conditions, and complex comorbid medical and behavioral presentations., • Provides psychiatric consultation regarding polypharmacy, metabolic monitoring, and psychotropic risk mitigation in individuals with IDD., • Performs medication management, including prescribing, monitoring, and adjusting psychotropic medications in accordance with evidence-based practices and regulatory guidelines., • Develops and implements individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members., • Provides crisis intervention and psychiatric emergency services as needed., • Conducts follow-up assessments and monitors treatment progress, adjusting interventions as clinically indicated., • Delivers psychoeducation to patients, families, and caregivers regarding mental health conditions, treatment options, and medication management., • Conducts risk assessments using validated screening tools and contributes to interim safety planning as part of the intake and crisis workflow., • Demonstrates expertise in serving individuals with IDD, including understanding of dual diagnosis considerations., • Adapts assessment and treatment approaches to accommodate cognitive abilities, communication needs, and behavioral presentations., • Collaborates with behavioral support coordinators, direct support professionals, and family members to ensure comprehensive care coordination., • Maintains accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical documentation in electronic medical records in accordance with OPWDD, OMH, and organizational standards., • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA, patient rights, and quality assurance requirements., • Contributes to development and monitoring of quality metrics (e.g., hospitalization rates, medication adherence, metabolic monitoring, safety incidents)., • Participates in OMH and OPWDD reporting, audits, and readiness reviews., • Supports clinical documentation necessary for Medicaid billing and regulatory compliance., • Participates in utilization review, quality improvement initiatives, and peer review processes., • Completes required reporting for incidents, adverse events, and regulatory compliance as mandated by OPWDD and OMH., • Communicates effectively with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, social workers, behavioral analysts, therapists, and direct support staff., • Participates in staff meetings, committees, and quality improvement initiatives as assigned., • Participates in treatment planning and treatment plan review meetings per OMH requirements, including documentation of psychiatric input on goals and medication response., • Supports making appropriate referrals to specialty services and community resources as indicated., • Maintains professional relationships with external providers, regulatory agencies, and community partners., • Collaborates with primary care providers, care managers, and social service teams to ensure whole-person care., • Provides training and consultation to interdisciplinary teams on psychiatric symptomatology, medication side effects, and behavioral manifestations of mental health conditions in people with IDD., • Participate as needed in clinical case conferences, grand rounds, and quality improvement learning collaboratives., • Demonstrates commitment to reducing health disparities and advancing equity for historically marginalized populations, including people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and linguistically diverse communities., • Performs other duties as assigned., • Master's of Science in Nursing, • Current, unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State with psychiatric-mental health specialty., • Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)., • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience providing mental health services., • Demonstrated experience or formal training in working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities strongly preferred.Experience with electronic health records and tele-health platforms., • Knowledge of OPWDD and OMH regulations, standards, and service delivery models., • Ability to travel between multiple service locations and in various environments, including clinical settings, community locations, and residential facilities., • Doctoral degree in psychiatric nursing (DNP or PhD)., • Board certification in both adult and pediatric psychiatric-mental health nursing., • Bilingual capabilities (particularly Spanish language skills).Company DescriptionHow you project yourself in the world says a lot about you.
