Details • Large, 885-bed academic medical center and Level 1 Trauma Center with a Chest Pain Center, Burn Center, and Stroke Center, • Emergency Department with 55 horizontal beds, 6 vertical beds, 15 observation beds, and 5 behavioral health holding beds, averaging 200–220 patients per day, • High-acuity, fast-paced regional trauma center treating ESI levels 1–5, including GSWs, stabbings, MVC, MI, CVA, burns, drownings, overdoses, cardiac/respiratory arrest, vent management, conscious sedation, and psychiatric cases, • Unit is currently undergoing renovation; travelers will not likely be assigned to trauma bays during initial contracts, • Patient ratios range from 3:1 to 6:1 depending on clinical area and acuity, • 12-hour night shifts, 1930–0730, 36 hours per week, • Every other weekend rotation required, • No on-call or call-back requirements, • EMR: Epic; IV pump: Alaris; med dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips; point-of-care GE ultrasounds and GE EKG machines, • May float to the ED Transition Care UnitRequirements, • Active NC or Compact RN license required, • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC, • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, with most recent experience within the last year, • Level 1 Trauma Center experience required, • Academic medical center or teaching hospital experience required, • Epic EMR experience required, • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible, • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration, • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RNAdditional Information, • Provide and coordinate comprehensive nursing care through the nursing process using evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making, • Department support includes ED Techs (ADLs, vitals, I&O, Foley, phlebotomy), unit secretary, charge nurse, pod leader resource nurses, paramedic staff, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, intensivist, critical care pharmacists, and a SANE Quality Coordinator, • Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation, • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays, • RTO requires manager approval, • Scheduling runs on a 6-week cycle, • Royal blue scrubs required, • Free parking available on site, • First-time travelers will be considered only with 3+ years of Level 1 Trauma Center experience, • Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible American Traveler Job ID #P-709307.
