What this job involves: We are looking for an experienced HVAC Technician to join our team at a biotech company. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in air handling equipment, air filters, refrigeration systems, and HVAC systems. Local Union: USW 4-438 What your day-to-day will look like: • Operates and maintains building air handling units, refrigeration machinery, auxiliary equipment and other plant mechanical equipment including but not limited to vacuum, air conditioning, coolant and heating, ventilation, fume hoods, bio-safety cabinets, water systems, compressed air, specialty water (DI, RO, WFI, etc.) and exhaust systems required to maintain proper temperature, pressure, humidity, or other such operating conditions necessary to meet client’s needs., • Observe and adjust related valves, switches, recorders, charts, indicators, and thermometers for control purposes., • Keep logs of and maintain required conditions throughout assigned areas, anticipate and detect equipment failure and locate trouble or faulty equipment and make necessary adjustments, replacements, or tear down for repairs to prevent loss in scientific media, research, or manufacturing., • Overhauls and installs equipment as required., • Advised and instructs others assisting the equipment operations and in performing maintenance and repair work., • Conducts testing and documentation for fume hood and exhaust lab device certifications as specified in the site standards., • The incumbent may be assigned to install, periodically monitor, troubleshoot, maintain, repair or upgrade building automation systems. The Lead Maintenance Technician performs corrective and preventative maintenance, installation, repair and service of all mechanical and electrical systems. The Lead Maintenance Technician performs continuous improvements initiatives, troubleshooting, and mentoring/lead junior technicians. Responsibilities • Operate and monitor double drum dryers and associated equipment to produce dry flake products., • Perform routine inspections and checks on dryers and ancillary production equipment., • Monitor control systems and manually operated equipment, making adjustments as needed., • Troubleshoot production, equipment, safety, or environmental issues and report maintenance needs., • Conduct product sampling and quality testing; accurately enter production and test data., • Communicate production status and operational updates clearly during shift handoffs and maintain plant security during assigned shifts., • High school diploma or GED required., • Strong mechanical aptitude and basic math skills., • Ability to multitask, solve problems, and manage time effectively in a production environment., • Ability to work in a team-based environment and communicate effectively with operations, maintenance, and leadership., • Must wear safety shoes, • Physical ability to climb ladders, navigate catwalks, work at heights up to 50 feet, and lift up to 50 lbs., • Previous experience in a chemical manufacturing or industrial production environment., • Forklift or fork truck operating experience., • Basic computer skills for production data entry and reporting. Work Environment This role operates in an industrial manufacturing environment and requires adherence to strict safety standards. Candidates must be able to wear required personal protective equipment and participate in routine safety and health monitoring programs associated with safety-sensitive positions.
