Job DescriptionMedical Laboratory Scientist (MLS / MT / MLT)Alternate / Related Job Titles • Medical Technologist (MT), • Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), • Medical Laboratory Technologist, • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), • Position Type: Contract, • Contract Duration: 6 Months, • Start: As Soon As Possible, • Pay Rate: $30.00 – $40.00/hour, • Shift/Hours: Sunday–Thursday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PMJob OverviewThe Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for performing high-complexity clinical laboratory testing, ensuring accurate test analysis, result reporting, and compliance with all regulatory and quality standards. This role supports increased Kidney Care and Fresenius testing volume and plays a critical role in patient care through precise and timely laboratory diagnostics.Key Responsibilities, • Perform specimen handling, processing, testing, and reporting in accordance with laboratory SOPs, • Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures and review/release test results, • Maintain accurate and complete records of all testing performed, • Perform and document quality control (QC), quality assurance (QA), calibrations, and maintenance, • Ensure compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety guidelines, • Identify and resolve testing issues or escalate to senior technologist or supervisor as required, • Document all corrective actions when systems deviate from acceptable performance, • Report STAT and critical results following established protocols, • Maintain reagent integrity including received, opened, and expiration dates, • Participate in training, competency assessments, and departmental meetings, • Support regulatory inspections and audits when required, • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory environment, • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadershipRequired Skills & Knowledge, • Solid understanding of clinical laboratory testing principles, • Strong knowledge of QC and QA processes, • Ability to work across multiple laboratory disciplines, • Proficiency with laboratory information systems and computer applications, • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple procedures simultaneously, • Excellent documentation and organizational skills, • Commitment to patient confidentiality and data integrityEducation & Certification Requirements, • BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, • Associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, • Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433, • National certification (ASCP or AMT) required or eligibility to obtain, • Foreign-educated candidates must provide IERF credential evaluation, • U.S.-educated candidates must provide official transcriptsWork Experience, • 1 year of clinical laboratory experience preferred, • Minimum 1 year of high-complexity testing experience required for candidates with BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, • State or national licensure as requiredAdditional Requirements, • Ability to interact professionally with internal teams and external clients, • Strong customer service skills when supporting inquiries, • Flexibility to support increased testing volumes, • Participation in all required safety and compliance trainingBenefits, • Medical Insurance, • Vision Insurance, • Dental Insurance, • 401(k) Retirement PlanAbout the CompanyOur client is a leading provider of diagnostic information services, empowering healthier lives worldwide.
