The position is responsible for securing profitable sales and upgrades to new, existing and discontinued Johnson Controls Commercial customers within an assigned territory while maximizing customer satisfaction and retention. This rep will also have a commanding knowledge of our product line, as well as that of our services. A portion of this individual's time will be spent working with and developing the skills of newer sales associates as directed by the Commercial Management team. Utilize approved marketing materials to include the Commercial Model Sales Call process to present sales presentation and proposal to prospects, assuring the customer understands our value proposition, positive features and advantages of our products and services over those of the competition. Follow up with prospects in a timely manner. Independently establish call plans and customer follow-up strategies and tactics; consistently apply time and territory management techniques. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of complete line of products/services and customers' issues and needs through in-house training, networking and reading/research. Obtain referrals and work with Centers of Influence. Process work order and complete all paperwork in accordance with approved and standardized procedures. Conduct post installation follow-up by contacting customer, ensuring commitments were met and affirm customer satisfaction once the customer has been in service. Provide training/guidance to less experienced representatives. Team-sell with other Johnson Controls associates, particularly representatives in the first 180 days of position being assigned. Key Responsibilities • Design, deliver, and refine sales training programs for new and existing inside sales associates., • Conduct onboarding sessions that focus on consultative selling and success fundamentals., • Identify training needs through collaboration with sales leaders, performance data, and rep feedback., • Create engaging training content using adult learning principles, real-world sales scenarios, and interactive methods (e.g., role-plays, simulations, video, group exercises)., • Provide real-time and ongoing coaching to reinforce skills and drive accountability., • Maintain a feedback loop with sales managers to ensure training aligns with evolving team goals., • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, observation, and performance metrics., • Recommend and implement changes to improve learning outcomes and productivity., • Act as a positive role model and subject matter expert within the sales organization. Education & Experience • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years in a sales training role)., • Proven experience delivering B2C or B2B sales training programs to call center or inside sales teams., • Strong background in consultative/solution selling., • Familiarity with adult learning theory, instructional design, and sales enablement tools., • Exceptional facilitation and public speaking skills., • Able to engage, motivate, and influence teams — even without direct authority., • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple training cohorts., • Strong writing, communication, and presentation development skills., • Data-driven mindset; can analyze performance to identify gaps and opportunities., • Strong presence in both live and virtual training environments., • Confident giving constructive feedback and holding reps accountable., • Present Skillfully – Clear, confident, and professional in delivery, • Ask and Listen – Effective in fact-finding and identifying learning needs, • Be Direct – Communicates clearly and with purpose; avoids ambiguity, • Coach to Close – Supports reps in developing win-win strategies and techniques This position offers a competitive base salary plus a performance-based bonus tied to training outcomes, rep ramp success, and sales performance improvement.
