Job Description Based in Central Islip, NY, working at the direction of the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), Office of Aging and Long-Term Care, this individual will conduct surveillance and investigation activities related to Intermediate Care Facilities for Intermediate Care facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IDD). Duties include but are not limited to participating in surveys or complaint investigations, document finding, draft Statement of Deficiencies (SOD) within specified timeframes, testifying in administrative hearing as needed. Non-travel days are based in the NYSDOH Central Islip office or telecommuting, if approved. $3,000 Sign-on Bonus QUALIFICATIONS: • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally with colleagues, supervisors, providers, medical and administrative personnel and residents/patients., • Excellent communication (verbal & written) skills., • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision., • Ability to relate effectively to clinical and administrative personnel and patients., • Computer proficiency with the ability to learn and understand new review programs and monitoring tools., • Able to travel to on-site facility within New York State, required., • Registered Professional Nurse (RN). Currently licensed and registered in New York State, required. Bachelor’s degree, in any health care related field. Two (2) years clinical experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities or in developmental disability facilities and deemed QIDP (Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional and ability to meets the federal requirements for attaining QIDP Certification with six (6) months of hire date.-OR-, • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) OR Master’s degree in any other health care related field, required. Two (2) years of clinical experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities or in developmental disability facilities and deemed QIDP (Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional and ability to meets the federal requirements for attaining QIDP Certification with six (6) months of hire date. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. The hourly range for this position is $41.92 - $46.03. Actual salary range and /or hourly rate depends on a variety of factors including experience, education, credentials, location, and budget. Job Description Requirements As Physician Reviewer/Advisor for Independent Medical Exams (IME), you will utilize clinical expertise and reviews insurance appeals, and prospective and retrospective claims. The Physician Reviewer will provide an interpretation of the medical necessity of services provided by other healthcare professionals in compliance with client specific policies, nationally recognized evidence-based guidelines, and standards of care. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Reviews all medical records and addresses each question posed by the client utilizing client specific criteria or other nationally recognized evidence-based criteria, • Ensures that the rationale for the determination is clear, concise, and contains adequate supporting documentation to substantiate the decision, • Identifies, critiques, and utilizes current criteria and resources such as national, state, and professional association guidelines and peer-reviewed literature that support sound and objective decision-making and rationales in reviews; refrains from using case studies, cohorts, and the like to make decisions due to their limited sample sizes, • Provides copies of any criteria utilized in a review with the report in a timely manner, • Returns cases on or before the due date and time, • Makes telephone calls as mandated by the state and/or client specifics, • Maintains proper credentialing and state licenses and any special certifications or requirements necessary to perform the job, • Attends all required orientation and training, • Performs other duties as assigned including identifying and responding to quality assurance issues, complaints, regulatory issues, depositions, court appearances, or audits, • Board certification required, active practice required PLEASE BE AWARE: In the interest of the security of all parties, Dane Street will never conduct interviews via text or request checks from candidates for any reason including the purchase of equipment.
