Job DescriptionPrincipal Automation & Mechatronics Engineer Our growing and innovative client in Hudson County, NJ is seeking an Automation and Mechatronics Engineer with strong leadership skills who can architect, design, and deploy advanced automation to drive efficiency, scalability, and quality across server manufacturing operations. In this exciting role, they will be part of a Transformation Team blending mechanical, electrical, software, and data-driven engineering to build next-generation automation solutions in a rapidly scaling environment. Responsibilities · Lead major transformation initiatives that elevate manufacturing quality, risk analysis, and continuous improvement. · Build smart-factory systems including automation, advanced inspection, metrology, and predictive analytics. · Develop scalable automation strategies to support New Product Introduction. · Design automated assembly and test equipment for PCBs, power modules, cooling systems, and full server builds. · Partner with design teams to embed DFM and DFA into new products. · Translate PFMEA and DFM outputs into robust process controls. · Develop mechatronic systems integrating robotics, sensors, actuators, PLCs, motion control, and vision systems. · Use data-rich environments to improve yield, reliability, cycle time, and throughput. · Work with vendors to specify, qualify, and deploy automation for medium to high-volume production. · Lead tool qualification, documentation, SOP creation, and operator training. · Use SPC, FMEA, DOE and other data-driven methods for troubleshooting and optimization. · Implement automated inspection and test systems to ensure product quality. · Ensure all automated systems meet safety, environmental, and industry compliance requirements. Qualifications and Experience · Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field. · 10-15 years in high-volume, high-complexity manufacturing, including leadership or transformation work. · Strong command of statistical and analytical methods (SPC, PFMEA, DOE, regression, correlation, Gauge R&R). · Proficiency with Minitab, JMP, Python, R, SQL or similar tools. · Proven ability to improve yield, reliability, and overall process robustness. · Excellent communication skills across technical and executive teams. · Experience in electronics assembly, PCBA, servers, aerospace, automotive, medical devices, or similar fields. · Hands-on experience with PLC programming, 6-axis robotics, motion control, sensors, and automation platforms (Siemens, Allen-Bradley). · Skilled in CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD. · Experience mentoring teams and building data-driven engineering capability. · Familiarity with AI/ML for predictive analytics or anomaly detection is a plus.
