Job Description Full Time Youth Residential Treatment Facility Swing Shift $27.32 - $37.26 DOE Pierce County’s first Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic. Comprehensive Life Resources is looking for a qualified Recreational Therapist to join our Youth Residential Treatment Facility in Tacoma, WA. Scope: Pearl Youth Residence (PYR), which is one of four CLIP programs (children's long term inpatient program), is a 27-bed Children’s Long-term Inpatient Program (CLIP) providing mental health treatment to both voluntary and involuntary youth 11-17 years of age. Treatment includes a multidisciplinary team consisting of case managers, therapists, psychiatrists, recreation therapists, nursing staff, and milieu staff. Residents are certified for six months, and the average length of stay is approximately 9 months. The residents attend school onsite through the Tacoma School District, and classrooms are supported by paraeducators and behavioral health technicians. The Recreational Therapist designs, delivers, and evaluates therapeutic recreation services that support residents’ emotional, social, physical, and developmental well‐being. This role promotes healing through structured activities, skill‐building, and meaningful engagement, both on‐site and within the broader community. The Recreational Therapist partners across PYR departments and with community organizations to create inclusive, culturally responsive opportunities that enhance social connection, self‐confidence, independence, and positive identity development for youth Responsibilities: • Oversee planning and implementation of therapeutic recreation program., • Plan and coordinate socialization and recreational activities., • Provide direct care in therapeutic recreational program which is appropriate for consumers and consistent with the program goals of increasing skills, maximizing potential, and increasing level of independent functioning., • Ensure that ethical and professional standards of practice are maintained by following all CLR policies and seeking regular consultation., • Provide direct therapeutic assessments of residents., • Serve as part of a multi-disciplinary team whose focus is social supports/recreation as part of the recovery plan., • Attend all assigned meetings, staff meetings, and designated staff training and consultation sessions., • Provide data and reports as necessary for program monitoring and evaluation., • Utilize individualized and tailored care, taking into consideration the specific needs and strengths of consumers., • Coordinate and interact professionally, cooperatively, and promptly with other team members., • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and storage of all recreation equipment and supplies., • Document all accidents, special treatment procedures, and extraordinary occurrences, and submit reports to the program manager., • Report unsafe conditions and needed repairs to shift supervisor, program manager, or safety officer., • In addition to the above, perform other duties as assigned., • Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy., • One year of experience with children and/or adolescents in a therapeutic setting., • One year of experience in recreation therapy preferred., • WA State registered recreation therapist (CTRS)., • Current CPR and First Aid certification., • If the role requires driving, a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required, and a working vehicle may be required., • Strong analytical, interpersonal, organizational, training, written, and verbal communications skills., • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, work independently, take initiative, and maintain confidentiality., • Skilled in MS Word and Outlook., • Current food handlers permit., • Annual flu and TB shot verification and willing to follow other measures as directed by Infection Control Manager., • Successful certification of Handle With Care training within 60 days of hire and annual recertification.
