Job Description Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Job Description This role focuses on installing, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading electrical systems and equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment. You will work with motors, controls, automation systems, and industrial electrical equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production and facility systems. Responsibilities • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, instrumentation, and control system issues throughout the facility., • Install, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems, including motors, motor controls, drives, transformers, switchgear, and power distribution systems., • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability., • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to support maintenance and installation activities., • Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-controlled equipment and automated systems., • Install and terminate conduit, wiring, cables, and electrical devices in compliance with applicable codes and standards., • Inspect electrical systems and equipment to identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions., • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions to restore operations safely and efficiently., • Collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering personnel to improve equipment performance and reliability., • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and parts usage., • Assist with equipment upgrades, plant improvement projects, and new equipment installations., • Support facilities maintenance and packaging equipment maintenance as needed., • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and electrical safety standards., • Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist with general maintenance duties as required. Essential Skills • Proven experience in electrical troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance in an industrial or manufacturing environment., • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including motors, motor controls, drives, transformers, switchgear, and distribution systems., • Hands-on experience with PLC-controlled equipment, automation systems, and industrial controls., • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals., • Proficiency in installing and terminating conduit, wiring, cables, and electrical devices in compliance with applicable codes and standards., • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude for working with mechanical components integrated with electrical systems., • Experience performing preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and control equipment., • Ability to troubleshoot and work with VFDs, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, sensors, and related equipment., • Strong commitment to safety, including adherence to lockout/tagout procedures and electrical safety practices., • Ability to respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with automation systems, including PLCs, compact logic controllers, and industrial control networks., • Familiarity with VFDs, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, photo sensors, sensor eyes, and other industrial sensing devices., • Experience in facilities maintenance and packaging equipment maintenance., • Experience working with compressors, packaging equipment, conveyance systems, and gear boxes., • Exposure to pneumatic equipment, optical sensors, welding, machining, and construction-related maintenance tasks., • Interest in developing skills toward journeyman-level maintenance technician responsibilities., • Ability to perform general labor tasks in support of maintenance and production activities., • Strong organizational skills for maintaining documentation of repairs, inspections, and parts usage. Work Environment This position is based in a plant and production environment that handles clay and dirt transferred from a mine to the facility where kitty litter is produced. The work area is very dirty and dusty, with a fine layer of dust settling on most surfaces throughout the plant. You will work around industrial electrical and mechanical equipment, conveyors, packaging lines, compressors, and other production machinery. The role requires comfort working in a physically demanding, industrial setting with exposure to dust and typical plant conditions, while following all safety procedures and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment as required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
