MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Provide leadership and supervision of Youth Care Workers throughout each shift. · Provide supervisory meetings and trainings to Youth Care Workers. · Assist in onboarding new staff through training and orientations. · Supervise the coordination and completion of required assignments, activities and appointments for young persons in care. · Ensure adherence to program guidelines and schedules. · Monitor the completion and proper filing/storage of all program documents and incident reports during assigned shift. · Monitor the facility for cleanliness, organization, and safety. · Respond to all incidents immediately; follows the emergency procedure protocol to ensure notification of appropriate parties. · Practice good judgment and decision-making to ensure the safety of staff and young persons in care. · Approve and assists with recreational curriculum completed by Youth Care Workers; ensures timely implementation of recreational activities consistent with ORR policies and procedures. · Supervise and assist with meal preparation for young persons. · Communicate any issues, concerns or emerging trends pertaining to assigned shift to supervisor. · Attend meetings, trainings, and conferences as required. · Ensure that unit keys, cell phones, translator devices, tablets and other items remain in the possession of shelter staff members only. · Provide a stable, abuse- and drug-free environment. · Ensure that Youth Care Workers adhere to OCFS, ORR and agency policies and procedures. · Comply with all mandated training yearly. · On-call 24 hours (where applicable). · Handle all duties specific to the role of a Youth Care Worker · Other duties as required by direct supervisors or needs of the program/agency. SUPERVISES: · Youth Care Workers EDUCATION: · High School Diploma/GED · NYC Food Protection Certificate within 120 days of hire · Bilingual in English and Spanish · NY State Security License (preferred) EXPERIENCE: · Two years’ experience working with immigrant children or adolescents. · A minimum of one years’ supervisory experience. SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER: · Driver’s License · Excellent communication and writing skills · Ability to lift at least 30 lbs. consistently · Ability to exercise enormous amount of patience and good judgment · Knowledgeable about working with immigrant youth · Superior leadership and organizational skills: ability to work independently and as part of a team; resourceful; ability to manage time effectively and multi-task; able to motivate team to achieve excellent outcomes · Experience and facility with Microsoft Office Applications Ability to work flexible hours as needed
