Job DescriptionMaster Teacher – Special EducationCapital Region, NY Fusco Personnel is recruiting for an experienced and compassionate Master Teacher to join a specialized educational program in the Capital Region, NY. The Master Teacher will lead and supervise a classroom team in providing individualized instruction and therapeutic support to students with emotional and behavioral challenges.This role is ideal for a certified special education professional who thrives in a collaborative, student-centered environment and is committed to fostering academic growth and emotional development in children ages 6–13.Key Responsibilities:Instructional Leadership & Planning: • Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs based on each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and treatment goals., • Create detailed lesson plans and curriculum maps aligned with student learning objectives., • Provide direct instruction through individual, small group, and whole-class teaching., • Adapt instructional methods and materials to meet diverse learning needs.Classroom & Staff Management:, • Lead and supervise the classroom team, including Teacher Assistants and other assigned staff., • Maintain a therapeutic, structured classroom environment that encourages academic and social growth., • Support students in developing emotional regulation, social problem-solving, and communication skills., • Conduct performance evaluations, monitor compliance with policies and training requirements, and provide coaching and feedback.Collaboration & Teamwork:, • Participate in treatment planning and care team meetings to coordinate educational and behavioral strategies., • Work collaboratively with service providers, support staff, and administrative personnel to meet student needs., • Communicate regularly with families and interdisciplinary team members regarding student progress.Administrative & Documentation Responsibilities:, • Maintain accurate records, including lesson plans, progress notes, report cards, and treatment plan reviews., • Ensure timely completion of required documentation for both students and supervised staff., • Participate in program development initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.Professional Development:, • Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities., • Stay current on best practices in special education, behavioral intervention, and trauma-informed instruction., • Provide mentorship or training to colleagues when appropriate.Qualifications:, • Master’s Degree in Special Education preferred; Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field required., • New York State Certification in Special Education, Literacy, or Students with Disabilities required (or eligibility within one year of hire)., • Minimum of one year of teaching experience required; supervisory experience strongly preferred., • Experience working with students with emotional, behavioral, or developmental challenges., • Knowledge of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) practices, or willingness to complete certification training., • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.Compensation
