Role Description The Book Keeping and Accounts Specialist is a full-time hybrid role based in Melville, NY, with flexibility for some work from home. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, including posting daily transactions, preparing journal entries, and reconciling bank and credit card accounts. The specialist will assist in the preparation of financial statements, support month-end and year-end closing activities, and ensure that all records comply with internal policies and relevant accounting standards. Day-to-day tasks also include managing accounts payable and receivable, tracking expenses, generating reports for management, and responding to internal and external inquiries regarding billing or payments. The specialist will collaborate with operations and leadership to support budgeting, cash flow monitoring, and other finance-related activities that help optimize the company’s logistics operations. Qualifications • Strong bookkeeping skills, including daily transaction recording, account reconciliation, and maintenance of accurate ledgers., • Proficiency in preparing and interpreting financial statements and supporting reporting schedules., • Hands-on experience with accounting software and related tools (e.g., QuickBooks or similar platforms, spreadsheets, and reporting tools)., • Solid understanding of finance concepts and practical experience with journal entries (accounting) for routine and adjusting transactions., • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment., • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across finance, operations, and leadership teams., • Prior experience in logistics, transportation, or a related industry is a plus., • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
